    gTechniq C4?

Hi all. I want to restore some faded black trim. The trim looks black when wet but not so black when dry. Carpro and gTechniq have competing solutions for this problem; DLux and C4 respectively. I'm leaning more toward C4 because it's supposed to be permanent (at least 2 years) coating...

    paint cleaner pad

What would be the proper pad for a paint cleaner? White Edge pads mar my paint when used with a cleaner (but they are great for M205). Hence, a CCS no-cut pad might be a better choice? Speed 3 on the DA? Thanks in advance.

    Soft drive sockets

..not sure if this post belongs in the Detailing Products category... I'm looking for a soft drive socket that can't tear up the sides and tops of chrome lug nuts. I'm sick of damaging nice, new lugs which then proceed to rust. Some internet search finds: Torque Sticks, Torque Sockets...

    polish disposal

I have some old polish that has permanently separated. What is the "eco" way to dispose of it? It's not one of the new water soluble types of polish.

    fk1000p via machine

I applied fk1000p for the first time a few days ago. The sealant was applied using a DA fitted with a white Cyclo double-precision pad set at speed 3. The pad fits into the tin for quick loading of product. Application and removal was a breeze, but with a hitch. While using a buffer made...

    wax for struts

I'd like to wax/seal some new struts that will be going on the car shortly. I have Sonus MotorKote, fk1000p, Optiseal, and Collinite 845. I'm leaning toward MotorKote. The new Opti-Coat 2.0 would be the best I suppose, but I don't have that yet. Any recommendations on tough wax or sealant?

    3M Hand Glaze

Hi, Just had a part on my car painted last week. The inside/underside of the doors. Strange, I know, but had to do it to fix a problem. Essentially the paint on this part was pretty much gone because this part of the door makes contact with the weather strip/door sill. Since paint needs...

    Opti-Clean vs ONR

With the introduction of Opti-Clean, I'm wondering what the point of ONR is anymore. Couldn't one just mix Opti-Clean in the same way as ONR to make a no-rinse wash, i.e. 1 oz of Opti-Clean per 2 gallons of water?

    pig tails

Just what causes these? I'll polish a panel to what I think is perfection, but when I examine it under critical lighting, these little marks show up. Are they the result of bad technique?

    Windshield repair

Not sure if this the right sub-forum...I've an appointment with Safelite to look at my windshield for a possible repair. If the windshield needs to be replaced should I go with these cats or try a better local shop? The internet reviews seem to be quite negative about Safelite. 'course I read...

    pad cleaning

Does Micro-Restore do a decent job at pad cleaning buffing pads? Usually I've used the packets of Snappy Clean but have run out. What makes the various powders on the market different or better for foam pad cleaning as opposed to a liquid microfiber-cleaning concentrate? I'm looking to...

    Blackfire aerosol wax

I'm pleasantly surprised by Blackfire aerosol wax. This came as part of tar removal kit PAC sells. It's a cleaner-wax for dealing with what life throws at one's car. I honestly didn't expect much but am pleased with the carnauba shine this product produces. What I'd like to know concerns the...

    linting microfiber

I've been having some issues with plush microfiber cloths linting all over the finish of my car lately. Also, some marring occurs as well from said cloths. I usually soak them overnight in a solution of Microrestore after washing and waxing the car. I then launder as normal (HE frontloader)...

    Deep Gloss - temperature

Is there a temperature range for application of the Deep Gloss spray sealant, i.e. can a surface be too cold or hot? I'm convinced that frequent application of an lsp spray is key to protecting the clear coat.

    Edge system

Just a rant... Got an Edge adaptor and some pads for my Meg's polisher. I tried the system out. Switching between 4 and 6 inch pads was a brease. The pads were centered perfectly each time. Great! Then disaster hit. I was doing the bumper of my car with a green 6 inch pad, some compound...

    wool & RO machine

Howdy, Is a wool pad useful on a random orbit machine like the Porter Cable or Meg's G110? I was thinking maybe a 4 inch wool pad could be good for cleaning up deeper marring in isolated areas. Wool does seem to a weapon for rotary users. Thanks in advance for answering my newby question.

    wiping off OP

Howdy, I'm using a 2 step procedure: 1. orange CCS pad with Optimum Polish worked with a Meg's G110 at speed 5, 2. white CCS pad with Optimum Polish applied with the Meg's unit at speed 3. I'm getting lovely results. My question is if it's really necessary to wipe down the panel...
