Does this pricing sound fair enough

Been running my polish service for a few months now and have drawn the conclusion: Not enough $$ for the work and time. The turf I operate in is working class at best with an aging population. How does this pricing sound: Wash Dry 1 step Polish (PwC, PP, SSR2 etc) $75.00 + $25 Clay + $25...

How long do you take to....

How long do you hardcore detailers take to do a solid pass on a standard size sedan using a rotary? No big fish tales either please :lmfao I did my second ever (by rotary) car today, SSR2 plus extras with the SSR2 by rotary and Edge 2000 White took about 1hr 50minutes! This doesn't seem...

    1st wet sanding adventure today.

Dragged out a panel and looked for a suitable blemish to wet sand. I dropped into the local hardware and score some 1200 and a sanding block. The 1200 was the finest they carried and as soon as I used it realised that it was too coarse for me to begin with. It took 3 VERY INTENSE workings of...

    Wet/Dry Sanding Cubes

I was talking to Paintless Dent Removal guy today who showed me some sanding cubes made entirely of the grade grit specified, to clarrify: a 1.5" x 1.5" x 1.5" cube made entire of say 1200, 2000 or whatever grade grit you wanted. He said it was Meguiars. He likes them because they're easy to use...

    Wet Sanding

Got an itch for wet sanding something. What grades do people at DC carry and use? Have some deep scratches to play with. Have chased them with SSR25 but the PC just cant get there. Have to get a rotary soonish. So what should I carry in my Emergency Wet Sanding Salvage Kit?

If you're an Aussie say "G'day, the shrimps are on my BBQ in Newcastle" - replace "Newcastle" with the city you're from. Come on guys and gals there's gotta be more than two of us at DC!

Clearcoat failure - now what do I do?

Hey All, my brother has been posted to the other side of the country to work and I'd like to detail his car while he's away. I've got a big job ahead of me because he works 80+ hours a week and barely has time to fuel it. The Problem: It's a red 1990(?) VN commodore pickup and the clearcoat...

    The Paint Protection Myth

I have alot of people wanting their cars detailed but don't want the paint touched or even waxed because they have a paint protection package. Some of these cars are 5+ years old and the paint is getting coarse from contaminants. Others you can see the paint protection flaking off. So what is...

    Scratch X - Any good?

What sort of result should I expect from Scratch X with a random orbital on a dark green metalic with light swirls. No deep scratches, look like washing origins. What is the best method of application, what should I follow up with? Thanks guys, look forward to your feedback.:)

I imagine that most people: Wash Clay Polish De-swirl glaze wax protect get paid Yes/No? Are people using glazes with any cut? If so, what's the workings behind another cut after swirl removal? What are the real performing glazes on the market? Easy to apply/remove?

How quickly does Yellow, Burgandy & Variations of Yellow fade?

Pondering the colour of my next car, I like silver but dings and scratches show very easy and are hard to remove, black is out, as is red. I like the look of the Acid Rush Yellow (see pic) on the current range of Fords in Australia (BA Falcon XR range). Are burgandys, yellows and variant...

Working around pin striping and decals

I know that plastics and most stripes can be taped over but what about those mongrel sets of pin stripes that are 1/4 inch apart. How do I work in between those? I don't really want to leave the area undone. I imagine polishing straight over the top would be disasterous.
