Is there a beefier version of a garden sprayer for mobile washing?

I remember seeing somebody on here using a small battery powered low pressure washer for mobile jobs. I just thought I'd check and see if anyone among us has any nifty machines for mobile washing purposes. I have phased out major water use for everything except for my boat buffing services...

    Boat buffing and RV buffing.

I normally charge $26/foot for boat buffing. What should I charge for RV buffing? I'm doing one tomorrow. Gel coat front and back, but standard rv sides. Not sure what to do about the sides yet either. Any suggestions? Sorry about the short post but I'm on location and using the iPhone.

Should I take on some street bike wheels for a rainy day?

I just got an email from a customer asking if I could polish his street bike wheels. He said he could sand blast them first. I've done some old Harley cases and heads but I don't do a lot of metal. The wet sanding is a lot of work. Any thoughts?

How do you guys do it?

I normally just do daily drivers, which in my area are just regular cars that cost under $35,000 new. But last week I was so lucky (or thought I was) to get someone with a collector car that was actually worth some money. This is a guy that drives his genuine 69' Chevelle about 3000 miles each...

    Has this happened to you?

I started on the hood of a Volkswagen passat with my rotary. After two hours polishing in the sun I couldn't figure out why I couldn't remove some light holograms. I even went at it with my DA. Finally I realized that the sun glasses I was wearing had some kind of marring on them that was...

How the heck do I get up on the roof of this boat?

I'm fully buffing and detailing a 55' yacht similar to the one in this pic. http://theboatpictures.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Maritimo_Flybridge_A55_Yacht.jpg In past large yachts I've always been able to get the brow, the roof over the lower "windshield" of the craft, by reaching...

    iPhone 4, Jailbreak, Unlock, etc.

So I had a little crack in my iphone 3g screen and decided to buy one of those screen replacement kits. Yesterday I followed the directions to the T after watching youtube videos and some PDA website videos. After I got it all back together I discovered the phone had turned itself back on while...

Should I be paying more attention to my DA?

Over the years I've grown apart from my DA with regards to correction work. Actually I never really liked it much from the start. It's an Ultimate Detailing Machine I picked up from Autogeek. I found myself steering clear of it and eventually avoiding it like the plague. It vibrates my hands to...

    An unusual phone call...

I got an unusual phone call from a guy the other day. He called and said he got my number from a friend of mine who owns a detailing product supply business (who keeps my cards handy for referrals ). He was trying to buff his boat on his own and had tried using a product that my friend the...

What happened to my Menzerna PO85RD?

I bought a bottle of PO85RD this winter and brought it out the other day. One of the things I liked best about this polish was that it worked very smoothly and I could use it outside with no problems. When I used it the other day it was grey! It used to be white. It did not work anything like it...

    New Business Looking to Grow

Hi everyone, I've just started detailing full time last spring. I've been self teaching myself for about ten years now since the time I got my first car was about the same time I got my first buffer! I started a little mobile unit by myself out of my truck and got a decent amount of business...

    Indestructible Stain

Here is a cushion from the bed inside a speed boat cabin. You can see a pretty nasty stain in amongst the pattern. I used my regular pre-spray and extracted it, nothing, the water bounces off these cushions and rolls all the way to the edge before sinking into the fabric. I used some heavy...

When the temperature goes below freezing...

I do detailing exclusively mobile and winter is approaching. In my area, as winter approaches the temperature is below freezing at night and above freezing all day. This means I get up in the morning and my hose feeding the pressure washer is frozen, and theres ice floating in the water tanks...

A 60s Nova looking to be buffed...

I'm headed over to a guys place on Friday that wants me to buff his 60s era Nova. He says the car still has mostly original paint except for a few repainted panels. Now I'm worried about the single stage paint and how thin it may be after all this time. The only single stage paint I've run into...

    Interior Stain Trouble

I've recently started doing some work for a small dealership in my area and he's got me doing interiors. I've been using this little carpet extractor I borrowed from my supplier and today is the first time I had some issues. He showed me a van that I did for him last week and the drivers seat...

    First Dealership

I had a guy at a dealership run across the street to ask me to do some work for him while I was waiting at a red light. So today I went over and did one vehicle for him as a sort of introduction to my services. I charged him $90 to shampoo the upholstery/carpets and wipe down all the surfaces...
