    Pin Stripes and decals

When you apply an LSP, do you tape off or go over or just avoid? Make any difference if you apply w/pc vs. by hand?

    ONR on a boat?

Anybody ever used ONR on a boat - I know it may not be practical if a more serious scum cleaner is required...but was wondering about it for more routine 'quick(er) detail' of topside areas.

    Aluminum Canoe - Take 2

Take 1: http://www.autopia.org/forum/marine-detailing/106439-aluminum-canoe.html This isn't a click 'n brag as she's a real old gal (the boat too) and the goal is more just to get her back in the water again... This is perhaps one of the very early 17' Grumman canoes as I estimate it's age...

    Duragloss Metal Polish

I just got my order from AG and the Duragloss Metal Polish container was half empty - it's supposed to be 14oz but sure doesn't look like it in a half empty container (okay maybe it's half full, but it looks more half empty). Isn't gonna go very far on my 17' canoe. Anybody else experiance...

    Ya just gotta laugh

The other day I was following a car that wasn't much to look at. When it turned I noticed Chrome wheels and nice rubber (that belonged on some other ride). Made me think back to when I was in high school and kids would put chrome reverse wheels on their $200 - $300 cars! (each wheel was worth...

    Stain removal

I didn't realize until it was too late that a black nylon jacket I wore stained (or perhaps dye transfer is more accurate) the (tan) drivers side armrest in my ride. Everything I've tried to remove it so far has failed. Any ideas?

    Aluminum Canoe

I posted this under 'machine polishing' then realized it might be a better fit here... We inherited a 17' Grumman's aluminum canoe from my wife's grandfather's estate many, many years ago. It's gotta be about 50 years old (we've had it for 35, wife paddled around in it when she was a kid)...

    The strangest thing...

It's funny how when your into detailing you notice the condition of other rides so much more... I came back from lunch and noticed a bright shiney red car in a visitors spot. From a distance, it looked great and the sun was reflecting off it like it was a red mirror. But as I got closer, oh no...

    Polishing an aluminum canoe

We inherited a 17' Grumman's aluminum canoe from my wife's grandfather's estate many, many years ago. It's gotta be about 50 years old (we've had it for 35, wife paddled around in it when she was a kid). It's anodized and and overall dingy from age. On top of that, it sat in a boathouse in the...

    My spring detail

A long winter over at last... Vehicle: 2006 Buick Rendezvous Interior: 1. full vacuum 2. Upholstery and carpet cleaned with Bissell Pro heat 2X. (really believe that extractions is a key to really cleaing these). 3. Plastic/vinyl cleaned with simple green, protected with...

    Foam Carwash

There's a (fairly) new car wash in town that features a Foam Carwash (in addition to self service coin-op spray bays). What is a Foam Wash? Is it better than 'Touchless' (or the same thing)?

    Minor scratches in metal trim

I noticed a couple of faint scratches in the polished, stamped 'BUICK' metal in the rear of my Rendezvous. I must have done it since I'm pretty sure they weren't there all along. Polish seems inappropriate unless it's a metal polish? Advice?

Can I use my PC to polish aluminum?

Anybody done metal polishing with a PC? (Or is it more rotary territory?) I have a 17' Grumman aluminum canoe. It has an anodized finish and sat in the water in a boathouse for many years before I got it. I was able to clean it up some 'back in the day', but I'm thinking I'd really like to...

ONR at the coin-op - a disappointment in the first go round

Background: http://autopia.org/forum/detailing-product-discussion/79588-onr-rules.html In searching for the best way to keep the vehicles protected and clean through the evil northeastern winters...about 6 months of cold, snow and SALT! ONR seems like the ticket and I'm sold with the...

Spray on, wipe off (or wowo) waxes - good, better, best?

Optimum Car Wax, Duragloss Aquawax, Eagle1.... Which is best? Any clear winner in your book? I'm not speaking to the base LSP for long term durability, but more as the topper to provide that extra layer of protection and pop that is easily renewed after every few washes. So what do you...

    My time with the twins

Yea, I was having a moment there too! But alas, I mean the Klasse twins. I don't have any before pics because 1) this isn't "click 'n brag" and 2) It's fairly new and in good shape. It did it's 1st 12k as a fleet vehicle and is in real good shape, just has a little bit of brush marks - must...

    ONR Rules!

Background: I have a good LSP in layers with AIO and KSG x3 (augmented with some homemade KSG glanz after the last few weekly washes). I think I will go one step further for winter and top with Collinite 476 (ETA next week). My gallon of ONR arrived from TOL yesterday so tonight after work...

4" vs. 6" pad - really more agressive

I've seen a lot of posts that suggest that the 4" pads are more agressive....but I don't see how. Assuming the same foam density pad and applied pressure, from the center, the 6" pad is spinning at the same rate at the 4" mark as the 4" pad. How can either be any more agressive than the...

    Rear air deflector

My 2006 Buick Rendezvous has really bad dead air in the rear so all sorts of dirt collects there. Can't seem to find a rear air deflector for it. Lund seems to have the most, but not for Buicks. Anybody know of one? (would prefer one with the 3M adhesive rather than drilling).
