    4Star Tire Gel Sling

Anyone know the best way to avoid tire sling with this? I've only used it twice so far, and cleaned the rubber (I thought) pretty well, waited a couple of hours for it to 'set', but it still slings. I could be applying too much -- I do use a dedicated tire swipe for it. How much do you...

Insects/bugs in third brake light/tight areas?

What are some ways to get rid of the insects that accumulate in the third brake light well areas? The 3rd brake light well is actually part of the deck lid common on VW Passats and Jettas. I don't have a compressor or leaf blower (yet), would either of those work -- other than actually...

    Applying Danase Wet Glaze

I just ordered my first batch of DWG to try out and was wondering if anyone had tips on application -- type of applicator, wait times before buffing (if any) etc. It will be applied over carnauba, we'll see how that works out, seems it shouldn't be a problem from what I've read. Thanks!

    Whoops

Made a minor mistake today  Or at least I hope for it to be minor I grabbed my diluted Griot's wheel cleaner (50/50) instead of my diluted APC and did an inetrior wipedown. After realizing it, I grabbed the APC, re-wiped everything, then used 303 to finsih off. My real concern is...

Big thumbs up to Patrick @ Excel!

Ordered my 12 for 10 Blue Supreme MFs early this week (Tuesday like) and got them today along with a couple of extras. Patrick must be clairvoyant, 'cause I actually needed a couple of the freebies -- now I don't have to go out and get them! ;) Thanks!!

What would you get with a $50 GC to Griots?

Got a nice $50 GC to Griots for Christmas, and while I don't usually go to them for most of my products, I like some of their stuff. The Speed Shine and Rubber/Vinyl spray isn't bad, but what would you recommend?

    Changing battery -- small spark?

That time of the battery's life (4.5+ years) where the car wouldn't start, so I had to replace it. The longest part was waiting for AutoZone to open. Should a small spark occur when reconnecting the negative terminal? I know it usually happens on a jump, but I don't use the neg terminal for...

    Removing Spider(!)

No, not the spiderweb marring ;) I was washing one of the cars a couple of weeks ago, opened the rear lid to get in the jambs, etc., and a huge monstrosity of a spider quickly went hiding in a dark crevice of the car. It was probably one of those wood spiders, but I jumped back a bit when I...

    A big thumbsup for Autogeek

I ordered some DP waterless wash to try out, but they forgot to pack the sprayer. No big deal, I called them up on Monday to see what could be done. The CS rep was very apologetic and said she'd get me out a sprayer. Not only did they ship it 2-day air (at their expense), I received a couple...

    1ZPP + AIO + UPP on wife's Jetta (Pics)

I know I know -- I've promised some pics to plenty of folks here, but never got around to it. I take horrible shots, but here's what 1ZPP + AIO + UPP (x2) looks like on my wife's blue Jetta -- not horrible for 3.5 years old. There were a couple of scratches I took care of with SSR 2.5, but...

California ARB Response for AIO Discontinuation

Here's the response I got from the California Air Resources Board regarding AIO. Does anyone have the AIO MSDS and can interpret this? I have the full ARB regulation (138Kb) as a PDF if you want it.

    Glass Repair?

Driving into work this morning, a HUGE rock came up and hit my windshield, leaving a slightly pitted spot where the impact occurred. I just had the windshield replaced about a month-and-a-half ago, too  Anyone have recommendations or comments on using a glass repair service for this...

    Winter detailing friendly reminder

Just a reminder to check the air pressure in your tires (and spare), and fill as necessary. Went over a friend's house and saw a couple of cars with obvious underinflation (most likely due to the recent weather). You folks in the warner climates, check anyways :)

Wife left to shop before I could dry -- now what?

I was almost ready to start drying her car, but she wouldn't have any of it -- she had to leave with the kids to the mall. What should I expect when the car returns? I hope the drive on the highway will help evaporate some of the water, and I guess it might be somehwat better than simply...

    Another Thumbs-up for waffle weave

I used it for the first time this weekend, to dry both cars after washing. WOW, if you're not sure on getting one (or two), I'm giving a definite thumbs-up for them. It only took a couple of minutes for the majority of the outside, not including trunk passages, engine bay, and inside...

    Cleaning Undercarriage

I have a 2001 VW Passat, and have never had the undercarriage cleaned (yet!), but am looking into trying. In searching, I've seen some folks use kerosene to get the underbody clean, but would something like Aerospace 303 Cleaner work? This is a daily driver, so plenty of road tar, grime, etc...
