    Question about questions

After a recent experience on the "other" detailing site, I was wondering if this site was a bit more noob friendly. I want a place where I can ask the noobiest of questions and not be told I should have searched first. Of course I could have! But to me, I like the interaction of being on a...

Has anyone used the Viking Microfiber Waffle Weave Drying Towel - 9 Square Feet

According to the reviews, it is an exceptional MF towel capable of drying a whole car while barely feeling wet when done. Has anyone used this? Out of 35 reviews, 31 out of 35 people gave it 4 stars or better which leads me to believe it should be real good.

I'm going to get one of these two DA's, and would like to know everyone's thoughts on these.

Could a pro detailer use a DA polisher and get good results?

Specifically, I'm talking about something like Meguiars Dual Action Polisher G110v2 . According to the website, they say: "The Meguiars Dual Action 6 Inch Polisher G110v2 has more rotary features with none of the risk. This machine overcomes many of the hurdles faced by DA polisher users, like...

Making my car perfect has become a sickness

I'm constantly working on my car, washing, buffing, polishing, waxing, and everything else you can think of. At a minimum, I wash twice a week (usually 3 times or more) with my home-spun foam cannon, rinse, blow dry, then use a quick wax. I get out toothpicks and search for nooks and crannies...

    Hello people!

I'm a 49 yr old male from Marietta Georgia. I'm not a pro detailer, but I'm definitely enthusiastic about it. I hope to learn a thing or 2 while I'm here.

    Glaze and wax question

Does glaze need to "cure" before applying wax? Btw, I'm using meg's pre-wax glaze.

    Anyone try Meguiars pre-wax glaze?

I was looking for a glaze and walmart and they happened to have meg's pre-wax glaze. I probably won't be using it for a couple of days, but was just wondering if anyone has any experience with it. I'm just looking to fill in the micro swirl marks and such, or just make them less noticeable...

    A poor man's foam cannon

For those weekend warriors who would like a cheap alternative to a real foam cannon, I present to you the Ortho Dial n Spray multi-use hose-end sprayer. It's traditionally used for spraying insect killers, weed killers, fertilizers, etc. But works great with car shampoo. Just attach it to the...

    AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! Big noob mistake.

After doing much reading and watching videos, I decided to take it upon myself to fix a couple "problem" areas on my hood. The first areas I tackled were where the clear coat had chipped off leaving the paint intact. No problem, just brush clear into it, let dry, and carefully wet sand flush...

    How thick is clear coat?

Just wondering how thick clear coat is on a typical vehicle, and how much swirl mark correction/buffing it can take before you get down to the paint.

Turtle Wax Trim Restorer (with before and after pics)

My 98 Camry has been subjected to many years in the hot Atlanta sun, (the body is in great shape though, only has 43,000 miles) and as a result, the rubber window seals on the side of the windshield have become extremely parched and spotted. To help rectify this, I got some emory cloth and...

    Synthetic wool bonnets question

Hello. Before anyone says get a Porter Cable machine, my kawasaki 10" orbital buffer was bought as a present for me, and I have no money for something better right now. I'm not hard core anyway, I just want my 98 camry to look decent. With that out of the way, I was just wondering if a synthetic...
