fluffy side and coarse side of MF - what job for each?

Many MF towels have a very plush side while the other side is more coarse. Do you use one side for specific jobs? QD, buffing off wax, etc.?

Have always wanted to try one of these so ordered one from autogeek. Should this go thru the washing machinge before first use (w/ liquid wash?) or just rinse in some water?

    997TT and some Fall colors

It won't be long before all the leaves are gone and the weather turns to hell so thought I'd take a few new shots.

    My new 997TT

It's been a long 6 months waiting for this car. Flew out to Ohio last week and drove it home to L.I. Told the dealer not to touch it as I wanted to detail it myself. When I got it home you can imagine how dirty it was from the trip. As I started the job I started to wonder if I bit off more...

Finishing vs. Finessing (CCS)pad w/ RMG on brand new car?

Am I splitting hairs here or is there a significant difference between these two to apply RMG on a brand new car? Car will be untouched by dealer and plan is to wash, clay, VM, RMG, and either PS or S100.

Finishing vs. Finessing (CCS) w/ RMG on a brand new car?

Is this splitting hairs or is there really a significant difference? It's a brand new car untouched by the dealer. Plan is to wash, clay, VM, RMG, and either PS or S100

PS as easy on/off as P21S?

thinking about trying PS when I get my slate grey 997TT but wondering about how it should be applied and how easy on/off it is compared to S100/P21S. Boat is due in next Friday so I'm getting pretty stoked. I ordered almost 6 months ago and I'm tired of waiting LOL! I've instructed...

Awaiting delivery of new 997 TT - some VM and RMG questions

I should be taking delivery of a new porsche 997TT in the next month or two (the wait is killing me!). So, while sitting here waiting and freezing in NY I figured I'd get my detailing plan all set. I will be flying from L.I. to Cleveland to pick up the car and drive it home. Since it will...

Brand new (dealer will not prep) first detail?

As I mentioned in another thread I chickened out on the Black 997 S and will be going with GT silver. Boat arrives in Baltimore on the 27th and brought up to NY. I told the dealer to remove the paper but not to touch. I will obviously wash, clay, and wax, but a little confused about...

Taking delivery of new Porsche 997 S (black)

I am in the process of selling my Silver E55 AMG and getting a black 997 S. I have learned a lot here (actually haven't been here in a while) and did, I think, a pretty good job taking care of my E55. All the right stuff, and MF towels from all the "best" sources. The Porsche (as was the...

    Putting on S100/P21S How much??

Kinda bored today so was reading some old threads here. Found some about putting wax on as thin as possible. OK, let's say i'm using S100 with the applicator that comes with it. If I "swipe" the applicator inside the jar, how big an area should that one "swiped" applicator do? 1/4 of the...

    Sealer for non-daily driver??

I have been reading some of the threads about how folks prepare their car for the winter. Is there any reason to put on a sealent even though my car will never see the snow, salt, or winter's muck? Now, if you tell me my car will just LOOK better by doing this extra step, i'm all ears! My...

Bet no one has ever done this before

It's a beautiful day here on LI, not much going on at work so I decide it's a great day for a full detail. Wash, clay, polish, wax. So I wash and clay and go to get my PC for polishing. One problem. I have no idea where it is!! I have been looking for an hour, and for the life of me I...

Pakshak Yellow vs. DF Towel for QD ????

There was recently a thread about members favorite towels for QD work. I had been using DF towels for this, and thought they were great. Needing some new towels I placed an order with pakshak for detailing, WW, and the yellow. First of all, I was amazed how fast they got here from Hawaii...

    2 sided MF question

I know I saw an explanation here about this, but searching anything MF will yield quite a few results!! Anyway, what tasks do you use the more plush side or less plush side of MF's for? I would think you would always want the more plush side on the car.

Pretty funny, can't get trim shine MSLT off driveway

LOL, but i'm always looking for a tire product that doesn't disappear so fast. Bought a can of Trim Shine the other day and used it. Woke up the next day to dind 4 big semi-circle's on my driveway! Last night blasted it with the hose, but of course it's still there. Hope it lasts this long...

What's the latest on "100%" cotton chenelle wash mitts

I was in pep boys today and saw some turtle wax chenelle wash mitts. Felt real soft, but of course I did not buy them. Need to check here first :) I had some viking mitts that are nearing their end of life. Did a search and MAN  there was a lot on the "100% cotton or not". Was a little...

    DFTowel, lint and Qd'ing

I remember reading here that folks really like the DF towel for QD work. I bought some last year and they are really nice. I wonder if I am doing something wrong though or am I being to critical. Anyway, I pre-washed the towels when I got them. Liquid tide, with just other MF's, rinse with...

Didn't have time to wax yesterday, do I need to wash again

I washed, clayed, and polished with vanilla moose (first time using my PC!) and everything came out great. However, I didn't have time to apply the S100. There is a slight bit of that greenish "dust" or pollen or whatever that stuff that gets on everything ths time of year on the car. Do I...
