    Compounds and IPA wipedowns

Are IPA wipe downs required when using compounds like M105 or Menzerna's SIP or IP? If so, at what ratio?

    Preferred polish for light-colored vehicles

Is their such a thing as polishes that work better on light or dark vehicles? My Tahoe is pewter colored and I would like a polish that would optimize that color. I currently have M105, Menzerna IP and FP II, Klasse, and Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish. So far I have only tried the Menzerna...

How do you know if you have "new" M105

I just got a bottle of M105 from Classic today and I am wondering if it is the "new" formula that can be used by DAPs. The bottle on shows pics of hand application and rotary application in the instructions.

    Looking for a new ride

I think I am going to buy a new ride soon. Maybe in the next 6 to 8 months. I know I want a rear wheel drive with a V8. Needs to be a four door because I have a family. And it generally has to be kick-ass. I don't want another SUV. I am seriously considering this: Pontiac G8 GXP

    Working around badges and symbols

Any tips on detailing around badges and symbols. I just usually tape them over during polishing/waxing and then give them a wipe down with detailing spray when I'm done.

    RPM conversion for PC 7424

Does anyone know what the speed setting numbers on the PC 7424 equate to in RPMs? For example 1 = x RPM. Better yet can the movement be counted in RPMs since it really "rotate"?

Best lighting for detailing in a garage

Based on pics I have seen on here, a lot of you guys use halogen lights. I always thought florescents were better to use so I had 3 rows installed in my garage and I made a mobile florescent light that I move around the vehicle with me as I work. Are halogens better? I have a Craftsman halogen...

    Kevin Brown Method

I have been amazed at the shots of the cars done with the KBM. Is there a how-to guide for this method? I really would like to experiment with it.

Garden sprayer to apply tire/wheel cleaner

Anyone using a pnuematic garden sprayer to apply wheel and/or tire cleaner. I was thinking about trying this to help save me a few seconds on a mobile detail. I'm not sure if this method would work with gel type cleaners like Menzerna or Black Fire. I was thinking of trying it with the...

Flying Dinosaur Droppings (well, maybe a really big bird!)

I parked at 5:30. Came back at 7pm and had this HUGE dropping on the hood. Easily 2 inches across. It must have been dropped by one of these: Went home and got out the QD and Miracle Towel. In only 1 hour - not even in the sun - this thing had dried and started baking. It took me 10...

What is the difference between the two sides of miracle towels?

They have two distinct surfaces on the Miracle Towels. One is close knit side and one is more of a "shag" side. When you detail, do you use one side as opposed to the other for certain things? I don't - I interchange. Always wondered about this...

Out Boy NSXNEXT Won that Acura Zaino show...

NSXNEXT came up with the upset in winning the Zaino shine-off at the Park Avenue Annual Acura CL/TL meet. Some stiff competition to be sure but he came away with it. Congrats! http://www.autopia-carport.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=11133 :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs

Cali Water Blade for trade. What have you?

I have a pretty new Cali Water Blade that I am not going to use. I have a Black car and its just too dangerous. Anyone have anything interesting to trade for it? They are $20 at a store so the trade should be something somewhat of value.

Winter is coming - ever heard of Autosol?

I saw a product that had the following claim: Autosol Ice Free When frost and icy conditions are expected, spray the outside of your windshield with Autosol Ice Free. It forms a protective layer to prevent ice from sticking to the windshield. Works up to three days. You’ll never have to...

Argh! Just washed and I see faint water spots!

Okay, 2 weeks ago I SMR'd, AIOx2, SGx3, SOUVx2 and it looked great. Since then, the car has been dry and in the garage and I have been de-dusting with CaliDuster and Pinnacle QD. This past week, the car has been outside and it has rained quite a bit on it. It also has been thoroughly...

I need Zaino samples - I gotta try it...

Anyone want to trade some Klasse AIO/SG and Blitz samples for a similar package of Zaino stuff? I saw my car using zaino and I really liked the reflective shine - I didn't think I would like it but I want to see it up-close and personal. All I need is enough to do a single panel. Anyone...

What to use on SUPER dirty leather seats?

I have never been able to get the leather seats on my mercedes really clean. I have used Lexol cleaner over and over but to no avail. What would you suggest to really get the dirt out of a 24 year old car? I need something pretty drastic and serious because they were not cleaned well in...

Forget cleaning bird droppings - I hit the entire bird!

So I finally finish the spring cleaning and am driving down some highway and WHAM! a bird slams into my windshield right at the top where it meets the roof. So I get home and am cleaning feathers and other bird-like substances off the windshield and roof - no scratches. And no, I...

Tried Oxyclean on my BLACK Acura

You've seen the commercials. It takes out any stain; ANY STAIN! So I had some acid rain stain on the hood that I could not seem to get out and although on my black car only I seemed to be able to see it, I still knew it was there. So I mixed up alittle OxyClean with water and let it sit...
