Used Edge 2000 pads for 1st time.

I just recieved my first order of edge 2000 pads last week and used them on a detail this weekend. I know I may be a little behind the power curve here, but 2 thumbs up on the pads. Why anyone would ever use velcro ever again I have no idea. Great pads! Thank you. (off to burn my velcro) :-)

What do you reach for first? Getting rid of deeper scratches.

Alright, I know it all depends on the condition of the scratch or the problem you are dealing with, but IN GENERAL what do you reach for first when dealing with a difficult paint problem or when what you normally use isn't cutting it? No pun intended. More aggressive pad or more aggressive...

    Tips for improving my time

Ok, I'm trying to improve the time it takes to complete a detail. My last two details were ford minivans. Both took me about 8 to 9 hours. Each had mild swirls, a few scratches, bugs and tar, nasty wheels, and interiors to match. Kids, dogs, ect. I usually do the interior first, then...

    Little green machine cleaning solution

So, I know the little green machine has been talked about over and over. Yes, I did a search and read them all. When using your LGM do you use the bissle carpet cleaning solution designed for the machine? Do you use just clean water to extract after pretreatment or some other type of...

    medallion premium paint cleaner

So I had an old bottle of this laying around because I never had great results with it. I have moved on to other things now, but never asked the question of what people thought of this product. It is a chemical cleaner correct? Is it even comparable to something like AIO? I never hear...

    Removing overspray from plastic?

I managed to remove all the overspray from the paint, but the plastic would not release the overspray. Any suggestions? I have already tried Mineral Spirts, Paint Clean-up (sort of like spirits), #39, and even tested an area with 0000 steel wool, but it started to scratch. I used the paint...

First paying detail...what was I thinking?

I hate big SUV's. Anyhow, this is my first OFFICIAL detail. The pictures don't do the dirt on the inside justice, but it was bad. The outside was ok, but I spent 3 hours removing overspray. Looked like the guy ran over a paintcan. Anyhow, I did the best I could and he was very pleased...

    Tops of RV's

I have never detailed a RV, but may have a chance to do my first one soon. My only concern is about the top or roof. How do you go about polishing or waxing the top? Do you just get up on the roof or do you reach with a ladder? I would think they are too wide for ladder work. Bear with...

Big or small for rotary pads

Which do you prefer to use? 6.5" pads (or similar size) or 8" pads (or similar)? I am pretty much still building my rotary skills, but seem to like the 6.5" pads, even on the bigger panels such as the hood or roof. Does using an 8" save you more time?

    Halogen lights/when to say when?

I know a lot of you out there use halogen lights of some sort while detailiing. I too use them since they show the most imperfections. Anyhow, sometimes I don't know when to say when. For example. I was working on a 5 year old car that was maintained ok. My problem is scratches vs. swirls...

New rotary in action with pics

Thanks to some help from people on this site and a little trial and error I'm starting to grasp this whole rotary thing. But I still love my PC. Of course the deep stratches are still there, but some are well hidden now. Here is what I did. Washed Clayed (sanded the blue paint off) A mixture...

    medium to deep scratches

The most abrasive I products I have are: SSR 3, DACP, and Meg. Fine Cut cleaner. I'm using Meg. red cutting pad with a makita rotary. Using a rotary with speed set to 3.5. I still am not able to remove medium to deep scratches NOT through the paint. Some are through the clear coat. I know I...

learning to use my new rotary

A few questions if you can help me out? 1. Do you find you use A LOT more product with a rotary? 2. If the buffer seems to jump around am I not using enough product for lubrication? 3. Do you apply medium pressure of the first pass or two then only use about the weight of the machine to...

    Water etching in tight places

I haven't bought a rotory yet, but will be soon. This will rid of my water etching nightmare and get rid of all the scratches that can only be seen under flourecent lighting. I hope. Anyhow, my question is how do you remove etching in tight spaces? Here are a couple of pics of the side...

    Liquid vs. paste

I'm sure this have been covered before, so if you have a link to another thread please let me know. But what is the difference or advantage of liquid and paste wax. Say meguiar's #26 and (insert paste wax). I'm not really looking for what product or brand is better than the other. Just the...

    Detail City-I love it.

Read number "7". http://www.detailingdynamics.com/tipaug04.html I agree with almost all of it, but some of #7 gives me a good chuckle. The line that got my attention was "Ironically the top detailers in the country who I've had the chance to get to know over the years never contribute to...
