    Not a newbie who's a newbie

Been registered forever, just haven' posted in a long time. But in catching up, I realize I am a newbie, since I no longer automatically decode all the product abbreviations!:whine Anyway, continuing to catch up via old posts, maybe all my outdated knowledge will come in handy for something...

Klasse SG removal. Too thick or too thin?

Okay, I'm not a newbie, but this season twice now I've gone to buff out the SG I've applied (very, very thin) and let dry. Unless I use a buffer, I can't get the SG off. A MF towel looks like it removes it, but creates what I would swear to be swirl marks, but aren't. If it wasn't so...

    Semi Tank [120 gal]

Ok, one of the benefits of living near a detailing guru is that you can stop by and get good advice and maybe check out some products first hand. In my case, I'm lucky because the guru I live near is Tim/Snake, proprietor of www.tacscar.com. So, a couple weeks ago I stop by to pick up some...

BFWD - 1st use along with uncontrolled rambling

I finally got under the hood of the Maxima last night to clean, but was afraid to use many of the degreasing cleaners that I have access to in retail stores because most of them say they shouldn't be used on aluminum. Of course, the Maxima has an aluminum engine, with some pretty parts exposed...

    its about snow time

Two slightly related questions for you experts: 1. Does claying remove AIO/SG? I think it does remove carnauba, is that right? 2. Is there a way to remove a carnauba layer that's over AIO/SG so that just more SG can be applied? Would Dawn do it? I haven't decided yet if I want to...

Which backing plate to use on a Makita?

I'd like to share an encouraging word with my fellow newbies. Tonight, I ended up with about an hour and a half to kill. Both cars are clean, and actually looking better than they have in a long time just because I've been paying attention to them - no new products (except the duster). Just...

Anything needed between clay & AIO?

I'm close to the big day(s) - going to try out claying to prep and AIO/SG/wax to finish. My question is, should I use anything (like FI or SMR) between the clay & the AIO? My inclination is that I don't - I've already gotten the swirl marks out of both cars, and I don't see any noticible...
