    Changing wash mitts

I just bought a bunch of wash mitts because my last wash mitt is starting to get flat. I got the sheepskin ones. What's the average number of washings a mitt is good for before your risk damage to your car? I think I've over used the last one because I've used it for about 2 months, using it...

    Dressing wheel wells

Is there a spray on product, or do you need to actually get in there and wipe it down? It's not so bad when the inner fender wells are plastic, but I have olders cars with rustproofing in the fenderwells. Saw cars on the road today that looked good, but you could see the inner fender wells...

    Boat wax

Anyone ever use a boat wax on your car? Specifically, Trewax? Went looking for Waxing Frenzy at my local marine supply store. No Waxing Frenzy, but I noticed a carnuba paste called Trewax that can be used in the sun or shade. That store also sold #16. I guess #16 is tougher than I thought.

    PB Spray & Wipe question

I got S&W several weeks ago and have used it every weekend since. I can see why there is a 5 gal version of S&W. It works great. My question is: What's the correct method to using S&W? So far, I've tried it a panel at a time, but when I mist one panel, the mist travels to other panels. So...

    Polishing under the tape

I noticed that tape is used to mask off edges on cars to prevent damage from PCs or rotarys. But, once the tape is removed, how are those covered areas polished? Obviously carefully, but by hand, or by PC but at a low speed?

    Got my #16, now what?

I ordered my tin of #16 after seeing all the great results people are getting with it. I've read that #16 can be difficult to remove. Should it be used one panel at a time, or should the whole car be done before removal? The instructions only say to let dry to a haze.

Poorboys Trim Restorer v. Natural Look

What's the difference in look between the two products? Notice that the uses for the products overlap somewhat. May as well throw in the Bold N Bright. How does this look differ from the above 2 and can you use it on trim or black plastic rocker panels? BTW - I have the Trim Restorer and...

    Rim damage

Is there any way to minimize the visual impact of this? I would prefer not to paint it, but its looking like my only option.

    Wolfgang topped with Pinnacle

Although I like Wolfgang a lot (only tried on black), I couldn't leave my car alone, so I topped it this weekend with Pinnacle Souveran. I didn't have a lot of time so I skipped cleaning the rims, dressing the tires, and dressing that huge ugly rocker panel on the bottom of my car. The car...

    Synthetic Oil

This question is off the detailing track, but members seem very knowledgeable on general car topics, so I thought I'd ask: Is there any benefit to using a synthetic oil when oil changes are once every 3,500 miles? To maintain my warranty, Nissan requires an oil change every 3,500 miles. I...

"Sir, put down the sponge . . .

. . . step away from the vehicle, and no one will get hurt." Something is fundamentally wrong when an $80,000 SUV has major swirl problems. I initially thought the SUV had a vinyl top because of the weird matte reflection coming off the roof. When I got closer, SWIRLS!!! It was amazing how...

    Single Stage vs. 2 Stage

Is one look superior to the other? I noticed that Toyota uses single stage on their black cars, but a lot of other manufactures use 2 Stage for black. Are you supposed to treat them differently, or can you do the same routine on both?

    Cleaning foam applicator pads

Is there a proper way to clean them? I usually rinse them off with water to get as much of the wax or sealant off, and make sure that I keep the applicator and wax/sealant together to prevent cross contamination.

PwC, does it strip old wax/sealant?

Had to quickly clean my daily driver, and wanted to slap on a coat of wax or sealant. Hate to drive dirty cars. I grabbed PwC as it is "cleaner wax". Just wondering if PwC also strips any old wax or sealant that I had on the car. My last detail was with the Moose Twins several weeks ago.

    Wolfgang, finally

Had a chance to use Wolfgang this weekend. I used the Wolfgang sealant over VM. The combo really darkened the paint. Considering whether I should top with carnuba. Sorry about the poor quality pics. Still get the hang of it.

When people touch my car . . .

it drives me nuts. For some reason, a friend of mine is constantly touching my car to feel how slick it is, to see the shine under the dust or dirt, or to wipe off some wax I may have missed from the last detail. He did it again today and I nearly snapped. I try to restrain myself because...

QEW, any special way to use . . .

Got some QEW today. Is it used/applied the same way like a car wash, just without the rinse?
