EX by PC vs. By Hand

I applied EX this weekend on my black car with a PC and the results were much better than when I applied EX by hand. I knew that there was a benefit to using a PC when applying a polish or glaze, but I never considered the benefit when applying a wax or sealant. The paint came out much darker...

    Some jerk hit my wife's car . . .

and left. Before I go nuts and have the entire bumper cover repainted for this scratch, thought I would try to make it much less noticeable by using touch up paint. Just wondering what the process should be. Considering the following steps: 1. Prep with DACP 2. Apply paint 3. Wet...

    Cleaning tinted windows

Is there any special way to clean the inside of the glass if tinted with aftermarket film to avoid scratches? I think the tint guy told me to use a wet rag, but that didn't seem too effective on stuff that got stuck to the glass.

    Collinite, worth trying?

From what I've read, Collinite's greatest asset seems to be durability as it claims to last up to a year. I tend not to use those "once-a-year" products as they sometime sacrafice looks for durability. I've heard good things about Collinite so I thought it might be worth a try, but wanted to...

    Dealer markups

Is there ever a reason to pay for a dealer markup? I just started car shopping recently and have purchased 2 vehicles. I was surprised to see dealer markups on certain vehicles due to "availability". The Mazda dealer had a 10% markup on their vehicles, Mitsubishi had a 20% markup on the Evo...

    What exactly is cure time?

When applying a sealant which requires a cure time, is it the heat, or is it the time that is required? In other words, if you live in a hot area, is the cure time shorter, or do you still need to wait the 24 hours?

    Clay before SSR3?

My sister will be selling her 95 white Caviler soon, and so I will probably help her prep it. The car is not oxidized from what I can see, but it doesn't bead any water. There are a bunch of water stains, etc. that will need to be taken out so I was going to go with SSR3. However, before I...

    #82 question

Does #82 contain fillers or oils like a glaze? I intended to use #81 after #82, then top with UPP, but when I used #81 on a small section of the car, I didn't notice any additional darkening of the paint, so I went straight to UPP after #82.

    MPPP v. NXT v. #20

Are there any differences in look between these 3 products? I just used MPPP on white, and it had the look and feel of Zaino (glossy and smooth feeling). Just wondering what kinds of look NXT and/or #20 have.

How many layers of UPP is enough?

Had a chance this weekend to use UPP for the first time. Like the look, but I found UPP a little more difficult to remove than WG. I got a lot of build up on my MF when buffing off UPP to the point that it started to smear. No worries, the look is killer so it will become a favorite. Just...

    Painting Mirrors

Been meaning to take care of this problem, but not sure how to prep this mirror for paint, and what kind of paint to use. Here's a far picture showing that ugly white spot where the paint flaked off the side mirror.

What can you put on weatherstripping to make it not stick to the windows when you try to roll the windows down?

    Gas, $2.45/gal, yikes

I know this is really off topic, but with the rising gas prices, I'm trying to find a way to get ahead at the pump. Currently, our gas prices in HI are about $2.45 for premium and about $2.20 for regular. Costco sells its gas at $2.12 for premuim and under $2 for regular but the lines are long...

    QD difficulties

Of all of the various products I purchased as a result of being a member on this board, I have the most difficulty with quick detailers. I seem to always have problems with smearing. To prevent that, I now go over the entire car again with a dry clean MF to buff off any streaks left by the QD...

    Waxing/sealing the inside

Any downside to using a wax or sealant on the interior plastic pieces? Seems like the smooth pieces are either painted or coated so a coat of wax or sealant could be used. Noticed some smearing from my 303 on the smooth plastic surfaces so trying to find another solution to protecting them.

    Pinnacle Cycle Paste Glaz

Has anyone tried this yet? It is described as a combonation of the PS and Paste Glaz. Wonder if there is any benefit to that?

When do you know you have enough?

I now have more than enough products to last me a lifetime, but I still want more. Figuring that sooner or later, I'm gonna have to say, I have enough. Has anyone reached that limit yet, and if so, what convinced you?

    #26 paste v. #26 liquid

Is there any difference in look between the two? When I was a kid, I was told that paste wax always looked better but was harder to apply and remove. Wondering if that is the same here, and if not, when would you use the paste over the liquid?
