    RIP Randal ( Iowa Boy)

For some of the long time members here ( Detail City) Some of you will remember Randal. His posts can still found on this site. He passed away last month, at a VERY young age of 48. Leaving a wife and two young boys. He was a dedicated farmer and had a good passion for detailing, much like a...

    22ple vr1

Saw this product being used on rubber trim, and it looked (from the pics) to be doing a great job. Looking it up online, it's not cheap. That for me has no bearing, as long as it works and works well. Anyone used this product and have some feedback? Thanks 22ple VR1 Plastic and Trim Restorer...

    Just Because I Can!

Doesn't mean I want to detail / clean all the families cars. I know has been discussed here before. Just a rant I have today. This weekend my SIL is coming up for a couple of nights and my wife asked me if I would clean her new SUV...I told her that's like us going to stay at her house, and me...

    Cool Seat Covers

I saw these seat covers years back and saved the link, thinking that one day I might need SC...Honestly I hate seat covers of any kind, but these looked like they where well made, fit like a glove, and really didn't have the appearance of SC I hope someone who might be in the market for some...

    A White Full Race Porsche

These are few old but thought to share with the group. I got a call from the secretary, of the guy that owned this Porsche. This is a full race track car and was the end of the season for him. Two Harley Details

These are two bikes that I did over this last two weekends. I love working at this shop. I get to use the scissor lift and lift each wheel independently so I can dial the rims in. Both of these bikes where custom built by this shop, the brown customer 2011 pan head, it won 1st place in Ezrider...

    Solvent Sprayers?

I work on a lot of motorcycles, the bottoms can be real nasty, caked on oil and grime. What I have been using with no problem is Stoners Tarminator, which works like a charm. The issue is I can go thought a can on one bike, and it's expensive. I was thinking about getting a pneumatic solvent...

    Removing Wheel Balance Glue?

This is one area in detailing that I don't care for. Once the wheel weights are taken off, the glue that remains on the rim, can be WAY hard to clean off. What I've been using is Goo Gone and a plastic scraper. Works OK but it takes quite a while to get it off. Any suggestions? Thanks

Steel Wool on my Micro Fiber Towels

I do a lot Harley's for a local independent repair shop. This last detail on Saturday ( pic attached) I accidentally left a piece of 0000 steel wool that ATTACHED itself to one of my finishing towels, while it went into the washer. (crap) So I rewashed them all excluding the one that had the SW...

    Dear Lance Armstrong

They can write, say or believe what they want about you. You brought pro-bicycling awareness to the US that has spawned a multimillion dollar industry, there should be many lined up to thank you for that. US pro-bicycling is no longer the red hared step child of the sports world, it once was...

    Over Educating the Customer?

On another forum someone was asking about a good detailer in their area. A few came back with suggestions, but one person posted a list of questions to ask the detailer to qualify them. I have found that most all people that have asked me about my detailing, have limited to no knowledge of...

    Glass Cleaning??

Glass cleaning is always a labor of love for me. I use Sprayaway and Stoners for glass cleaner. No issues on the product, I think both are excellent cleaners. My process is: Spray cleaner on, let that dwell for a minute. Huck surgical towel to wipe the glass. Micro fiber glass towel to dry...

    Clear Coat Failure

I don't know if the rest of the members see this as much as I do. Seems like I see a lot of newer cars with clear coat failure. I wonder if this is from a lack of maintenance or factory fault. I have a 16 year old Camry that stands up to new cars for shine. Granted I have paint experience but...

    Poorboys Polish with Sealant

I had two details over the weekend on newer cars. I had recently picked up a pint of PB P-w-S, from Steve. I've been a fan of his P-w-C for years, but Steve talked me into this instead, glad he did. I used my PC with a LC polishing pad on both cars and was overly impressed with the shine! I...

My Reputation Is Shot Here Well at least all the rep points I had. I'm not sure what happened to all of them, but it appears I'm back one! I find that interesting to say the least. Thanks to the one member that pointed it out.
