BMW 740i - don't know why but white is my color this month

Today's detail is a white BMW 740i ... not sure of the age but maybe about 10 years old. Don't know why, but this about the 3rd white car I've done in the last month or so. :nixweiss I can't get excited about white, but owner was happy and it puts some $$$ in the kids college fund :chuckle...

HT-61 vs. Black F250 FX4 ... pleasantly surprised in paint correction

My buddy finally brought back his black F250 FX4 Supercrew after 10 months since we last detailed it. It's black and a daily driver, so you can believe it had a fair amount of normal spider webbing. This truck is a beast, it's so high you need a step ladder to reach the roof and a platform to...

2001 Honda Accord Coupe - boring white with spray contamination

Today's detail was a 2001 Honda Accord Coupe in Tafetta White. Owner didn't want any paint correction except to "clean up the rough spots on the paint that won't come clean with carwash and a sponge." It had been driven through something which had left some sort of dingy contamination on...

Plastic bumper fades different color than body panel .... help please

I'm detailing a pearl white 2007 Acura MDX. The plastic bumper sections seem to be fading a slightly off-white yellowish tint and they no longer match the steel body panels adjacent to them. The owner thinks I can polish these back to white again, but I don't think that's going to work...

Edge White Ultrafine Wool finish hologram free?

I'm one of those who needs to finish with a PC and foam in order to leave a hologram free finish after rotary work. I'm considering the Edge White Ultrafine Wool since AG is having a sale. It's supposed to have almost zero bite. I know some like SuperBee claim it can finish hologram free...

Need opinions on leather damage please

I'm detailing a 2002 Audi A6 today for a person who bought it from an out-of-state dealer over eBay. During cleaning of the leather interior, a spot on the driver's seat showed damage and I'd like to know if it's something I did wrong or due to something else. I'm using Meg's APC, diluted...

37 year old fiberglass boat brought back to life

I finally finished this 1971 Sea Ray Pachanga for a buddy at work, and it really kicked my butt. I had posted a few intermediate photos in the marine section, but that forum doesn't seem to get much traffic so now that I'm done I hope you don't mind me posting in the Click and Brag. This...

    Most agressive compound for Gelcoat?

I just worked on a 1971 fiberglass boat that needed to have some serious cutting to remove the amount of chalky/faded gel coat. The 3M Marine Rubbing Compound did OK, but I was wondering if there was another compound suitable for gel coat that was even more agressive than that. Thanks.

    1971 Sea Ray Pachanga 18'

Here are some photos of a boat I'm doing for a buddy. It's a 1971 Sea Ray Pachanga jet drive boat that was in storage for many years. Hull was very chalky and dull on the horizontal surfaces. Process: 3M Marine Compound, wool compounding pad, 2200 rpm That didn't do it, still a lot of...

    98 Prelude - Today's Detail

Had a '98 Prelude today ... general paint defects like water spots, scuffs and scratches and dull paint typical for a 10 year old car. Milkshake stain on the passenger seat that the owner said had been left there for a while. Vehicle basically just needed a good, full detail to freshen it up...

    VW Beetle- Decal_Removal/Express_Exterior/Full_Interior

Just a quickie for a friend of the wife this weekend. Mostly interested in making interior "look like new" and dealer decal removal as she said she told dealer she didn't want it be he applied it anyway. Only wanted to pay for 1-step exterior and no clay bar treatment so paint could have...

Carbona spot remoers safe for upholstery/carpet?

My wife has some Carbona Stain Devil bottles that you can buy at the supermarket. They are kind of neat in that there are like 8 different formulas for different specific stains, eg. ink/crayon, coffee/tea, fruit/wed wine, make-up/grass, etc. I thought they would be great to try on auto...

    "Wheeling paint?"

I had a guy ask me today if I could "wheel his paint" for him. After talking to him I figured out he just wanted to have his repainted and compounded paint final machine polished. Is this a common term? Sounds like something out of body shop jargon?

Specific stain spotter vs. General spotter?

Was wondering if the specific stain spotters are that much more effective than the general type stain spotter. For example, many use Folex with pretty good results on a wide type of stains. But I've had mixed results on certain types of stains using Folex. Are the specific spotters better...

I've got half bottle of UPP I'd like to use up and I was wondering if anybody had any experience trying it after PRIME (I've got PRIME Strong, but that shouldn't matter). Looks? Ease? Durability? Thanks.
