    2008 Escalade Black

SVT's thread about our first cars got me thinking about the things we did (or wanted to do) to customize our first car(s). I was wondering what you guys did or wanted to do in order to customize your first car(s). In my case, I repainted my '77 Cutlass Black Cherry. Then I wanted to take it...

Looking for a good 5.5" wool pad

Well, it's that time of year when thoughts surface about what is needed to detail the vehicle. Get a load of my shopping list for 2002. - Microfiber Gloves (Trying them to clean the interior glass) - One Grand Blitz Wax (That might be debatable) - Pinnacle Poly Clay Kit - Vent Duster -...

    Vacuum of choice

My fellow Autopians, Who washed or detailed their car for the New Year? Me: I took Maxine to a shop called Attention to Detail in Calumet Park, IL. Maxine got a wash and wax with her first coat of Souveran. The owner of the shop said he wished he had a camera to take a picture of the...

    Scratch X 2.0?

Did anyone (or is anyone going to) buy a Christmas Present for their 4 wheeled loved one? Last Year, I bought GTS Headlight Blackout. This year, Maxine is getting her rear speakers replaced with Eclipse 83941 3 way 6x9s. :D

    I can't wait

As you know, I blew the rear speakers in the Maxima by cranking Xzibit. However, I am getting ready to make some minor audio changes in the Maxima. a) Replace Rear Speakers with Eclipse 83941 6x9 3 ways. b) Add a/d/s PQ8 amp (buying it from a friend of mine) c) Replace factory 4x6s with...

    New to Tampa

Vehicle: Black C1500 Pickup The owner of this pickup had already 2x AIO, 2x KSG. I was curious as to how this wax looked on top of Klasse. So, for grins, we decided to test it on his Klassed tailgate to see how much the finish was enhanced. After he applied it to his truck, we both had...

Detroit Modern Muscle: 2010 Camaro 2SS by AutoLavish featuring Mark Kerckaert

Since I am looking into relocating, one of the things I am looking at is a nice garage. Although I am looking most for efficient storage, I am really considering putting a washer/dryer in the garage to facilitate washing my detailing towels. My question is whether or not it would be practical...

    Corvettes/Fiberglass any different?

Well, not really but I would like to know how well those microfiber wash mits sold by CMA work on glass. The reason I am asking this is I am looking to buy one for cleaning interior glass.

    Viking Tire Brush

Vendor: Autozone (Blue Island, IL) Vehicles used on: 1994 Maxima & 2000 Concorde Price: $2.99 I was in desperate need of a tire brush since the wire brush I bought from Autozone (Alsip, IL) was destroying itself from brushing the Navigator's tires (OWL tires). I saw the Viking brush and...

Personal LSP testing! [845, 476, OOS, OCW, WDGPS3.0]

Vehicle: My Pastor's 2000 Chrysler Concorde Since the day was nice in Chicago, I figured I would take advantage by giving Maxine a much needed bath. I was going to do my father's Navigator but the truck didn't sit still long enough for me to wash it. At any rate, I promised my...

BF Midnight Sun on Moonlit Blue Elantra

What are your favorite expressways to drive on? Mine happens to be the Chicago Skyway/Indiana Toll Road. Some of the views of Chicago are rather interesting from up there. Second is Lake Shore Drive. Third is a tie between I-57 and I-294.

    Visiting the dealer's for service

...what kind of body wash can I use to strip it off? This weekend, I plan to totally strip the Klasse off and reapply it (right after I do multiple applications of SMR). I am interested in the P21s Bodywork Shampoo but if you can suggest others, let me know.

    Versa Angle Tire Brush

Purchased from: AutoZone; Blue Island, IL Cost: $1.99/applicator I needed a foam applicator to apply SMR and PI II but could not find any of the cheap yellow ones. The only ones I could find were the Viking HD applicators. Likes: - Very easy to grip. They have a contour similar to a...

    Stainless steel exhaust polish?

Well after giving the Maxima a through washing, I hit it with Perfect-It (To get rid of the scratches from sanding), then SMR with a foam applicator, then 2x AIO, then 1x SG (I plan to apply another coat soon). So far, I am pretty pleased with the results but I now wish I had some Blitz to...

    Newbie needs Vinyl Cleaner

I stopped by Pep Boys to get some SMR today to get rid of the swirl marks on the Maxima. As I applied the SMR, I noticed that I was getting more swirls on top of the ones I already had. After I saw that, I stopped and put everything up so I could find out what went wrong. I am guessing that...

Reflections Detailing of Utah in a Magazine

I bought some 2000 grit sandpaper to work with the touch up paint on my Maxima. I did a test on a spot and the sandpaper worked fine to level it off. Now the next question is whether I use a mild rubbing compound to clear all the scratches out. Would Perfect-It work in a situation like this?

    any cyclo users here?

Vehicle tested on: 1994 Maxima GXE (aka Maxine) A few weeks ago, I wanted to clay the Maxima but wanted something retail. So, for kicks, I tried the Meguiar's Quik Clay (AutoZone; Blue Island, IL). Well, in terms of application, it was pretty easy and pliable. However, it did leave some...

    '03 BMW 530i detail

Every fall, it seems my Maxima becomes a haven for spiders. What can I do to get rid of them since I can't stand spiders and I can't swat them while driving. I can't use Raid or call Orkin, unfortunately.

    Steam Cleaners

I am considering getting a steam cleaner to do the interior but I want to know who makes the best one or will one of those small Bissel steam cleaners do the job nicely.
