If you can’t understand why I love detailing after looking at these pics, well you’re crazy!! :grinno:
First up, a black Altima SE-R with a bit of swirls and marring. The car has been well maintained and just needed a little correction done. Very nice car, I really like it.
For the...
Hi all, any input in this matter would be *greatly* appreciated.
Here's the "story"..........
The car is a 93 accord EX wagon with 185,000 miles on the clock, I bought her used a few months ago. She runs strong and starts right up, untul last week.
I stop to get gas, turn key to...
Saturday I had to administer automotive CPR to a neglected white GSR. :D The car just needed a little TLC in order to be resurrected from its’ current state.
I spent around eight hours with this car, the majority of that was on the interior.
The process was:
Wash
Clay with...
A little background on this project can be found here:
http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=68470
The wheels had some form of "gunk" on the rear that was *very* difficult to remove. I tried mineral spirits, clay, etc. The only thing that removed it was *aggressive* buffing with a...
I saw "Porta" asking about these in another thread, thought I would start a new one.
I remember Anthony testing these a while back, any feedback on the final product?
Anyone else used them? I don't see them on any of the vendor's websites yet (TOL, autogeek, etc).
They certainly look...
I showed up to polish a set of uncoated aluminum wheels, didn't know that they had *heavy* "gunk" on the insides. I managed to remove and polish one section with Mother's powerball+power metal, but it would have taken *all* night.
I was thinking wash the wheels, clay the gunk, then polish...
Saturday I had a fairly trashed 98 Z28 to detail, interior and exterior. Today, I had a detail that I could focus soley on the paintexterior only!!! I love these details as I find interiors to be “necessary evils.
The paint had moderate to severe swirls and marring and...
A lot of the car shows around here have "goddy bags" for contestants, they are full of pencils, pens, frisbees, etc. It's all donated and consists of whatever the sponsors of the show will give out. I am going to order a bunch of 2 oz sample bottles from USplastics (anyone now of any place...
You know how customers always tell you "it's not that bad" or it is "near perfect?" We all know what that means, break out the big guns and pack a lunch. :)
I actually had quite the opposite experience on Sunday. The guy told me that the paint was near perfect, and it was. When I arrived...
Detailed this Volvo on Saturday, my task was to bring it back to life.
The paint had severe buffer swirls in it from another shop (won’t name names) that needed to be removed. The interior also needed a bit of freshening up. J
For the paint the process was:
Wash
Clay with...
It was time for his 6 month check up. :)
He weighed 17 lbs, which puts him in the 50th percentile for weight and he was 27.5" long, which puts him in the 90th percentile for heighth!!! I am about 6'4" and his mother is about 5'9"--just letting you guys know that I am raising a draft pick...
Detailed this Mustang yesterday; it was in need of some TLC. The paint was dull, dirty, and had scratches/swirls all over it. The engine looked like an explosion of mud had occurred inside the bay.
The paint was so contaminated that while claying it, the water turned brown.
Process...
Out of the blue a guy emailed me from Birmingham and was interested in my SI. He drove in on a Sunday and brought cash. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, it was a very smooth transaction. IMO, the value of Hondas (especially these Si's) is grossly overstated. I loved my car, but...
I bought the nano, filled out the forms *exactly* as they wanted, mailed to the adress, it's been over a year and nothing, tried again with waud, nothing, tried again with the bucket free, nothing.
Has anyone ever received one?
My normal process typically looks something like this:
Apply degreaser to engine
agitate
pressure wash
blow dry
dress
shut hood/start motor
apply degreaser to tire
apply acid to wheel
scrub tire and wheel well
pressure wash area
clean wheel with alkaline degreaser to neutralize...
Got a call from the local Pontiac dealership Friday about detailing a Pontiac Solstice for a “picky customer. The car had been washed a few times with the dreaded dealer brushes and the customer noticed the marring. I have to say, it was rather mild for the casual customer to have...
This is the Porsche from the thread on Thursday. For those of you who didn’t read it, here is the story.
Basically a guy orders a black Porsche cayenne, dealer says they have one with 800 miles that is just like new. The customer says great, they do the deal. The vehicle actually had to...
Anyone ever tried this? I used *every* one of my pads last night detailing a porsche. I just got a call from the local Pontiac stealership and they want a solstice buffed tomorrow (they are bringing it to me). I need my pads dry *now*. My typical routine is wash, spin dry with rotary, air...
Evidently they delivered a black Cayenne to a customer with some swirls, the customer noticed and sent it back to be detailed. When the detailers got ahold of it, they must have *really* hacked it up, the customer is now irrate (rightly so). They want me to come tomorrow after work and detail...
Just a quick story behind this detail:
This lady brings her car to the local tunnel wash (I know the name, but will keep it to myself) to have it detailed. They then commence to run it through the tunnel and “detail it. Afterwards she notices that she still has all of these...
