One of my neighbors dropped off a 2002 British Racing Green Mini last night. Sorry no befores, but it had what you'd expect for a car after 85,000 miles and 5 Maine winters. Moderate swirling, a few RIDS, and carpets full of sand and rocks. The owner also had a dog .
Process...
My uncle picked this up at a county auction for long rides - his truck was killing him on gas. Anyway, it's a 2004, 103,000 miles, looks like it was formerly owned by Sheriff Roscoe P. Coletrane... the entire car was swirled up and muddy when I got it (interior was a mess). Sorry no befores, I...
A buddy of mine asked me to help prep his car about 3 weeks ago, so I came on down to his shop. I brought my rotary, PC, pads and towels, but he hooked me up with products. I used 3M's rubbing compound with a wool pad and he followed with Perfect-It II FP on a PC @6 with a white LC. The car...
Has anyone on here had a chance to stack a UDM up against the Cyclo? I currently use a rotary for correction and a Cyclo with the DoublePrecision setup for finishing. Does the UDM offer any significant advantages in finish polishing over a Cyclo? If higher gloss or significantly faster working...
Is anyone else here a cigar guy? I was inspired by the Beer Time thread to see what the other guys out there are smoking... personally I just finished off a case of Onyx '97 Reserve, an A- smoke for around 2.50 apiece... hard to beat that. I'm looking to see if anyone has any recommendations for...
This was a detail for the mother of one of my other clients - she had a black 2003 Highlander with the worst set of RIDS that I've seen so far. It had scratches on one side from the that she presumably parks a little too close to (they've got some mean thorns, lol I ran into them while I was...
I'd been struggling with trim problems on one of our cars (03 Taurus) lately - every dressing I tried, even CG's excellent Liquid Extreme Shine, looked crappy after a week or so on the mirror and windshield trim. After trying everything in my detail box, I dug around in the basement and found...
This was a '99 S80 I did for another Autopian, Ben, who was a great customer. The car came off the trailer from a dealership in Jersey with faded trim, dull paint, and moderate swirls:
These swirls were a *lot* worse under incandescents
Taped up for polishing:
Process:
Deep...
Here's a few products I'm looking to move to make space for the Presta lineup I have coming in.
AIO: Not so full, probably 3-4 cars left in it
SG : Almost full, line shows how much
EX-P: half full
NB: half full
FTG: almost full
Asking 40+ ship for all.
Edit: I'm willing to...
A friend of the family asked me to give their interior a good cleanup before some of their family came to visit. I lowballed the quote figuring that they were a friend and it couldn't be too bad... could it?
It was a 1995 Monte Carlo that hadn't been vacuumed since the last...
Before: severe oxidation, swirl marks, faded trim, it was original (soft) SS paint that somehow survived this long. The Jeep spent most of its life in Jersey, so the undercarriage and a number of trim pieces were heavily rusted - and the Florida sun took its toll over the last 3 years too...
This was a 328i I did for Autopia member Inabis. It had some severe marring from a tunnel wash - and some of the softest paint I've seen lately. It was almost impossible to finish out well - PO106FF ended up doing the trick.
Before:
ONR
CG Clay
OP/orange foam X2 (I tried...
The first one is a 2007 Camry that my friend just picked up. It got:
ONR
Clay
Polycharged 845iw/PC 6/Black LC
Polycharged CG trim gel on tires
2005 Liberty:
ONR
Poli-Seal/PC 6/LC white
CG 50:50
Black Magic foam on tires and tire cover
CG trim gel on all trim, door...
This was a 1994 TT Supra that I did for Autopia member Dan94TT. He had it repainted about 5 months ago - and damn was it good. There was absolutely no orange peel, dings, runs, solvent pop, etc. However, the repaint was as soft as I've seen before, and it had moderate swirling and very severe...
Since I have to move in a couple of weeks, I'm looking to sell my Cyclo - it's a Model 5 that's been used but is still in excellent condition. I bought it directly from Top of the Line - it comes ready to use with a pair of velcro holders. I'm selling it for 225 shipped, 255 if you want it set...
The owner of this SLK55 came to me off of Autopia, and he was looking to take his SLK55 from an excellent finish to a perfect one. Before the polishing it had only light marring from washes and one deep scratch on the hood - the average person would have thought of it as perfect. It had the 30...
This was a quick and dirty job for a buddy - he was nice enough to lend me his Eclipse while my GTP was in the shop, so I figured I'd clean it up a bit for him. It was pretty trashed and really needed a 2-step compound and polish, but I only had 2 hours, so I did the best I could. Sorry no...
Here's a 2003 Lancer Evo I did for a client, it's heavily modded running 12's on pump gas and mid 11's on race gas (cams, bigger turbo, piggyback ECU, etc). This was possibly the toughest job I've ever had to finish out on, it seemed like no matter what I tried, the rotary left trails and the...
I'm looking to trade for some ZPC to go under the sample of Z5 I just picked up, I have OHC, FPII and HTEC to trade, plus a whole bunch of other stuff (Long Haul sample bottles, Meg's WB, FK Pink, you name it I might have it).
