Detailing a '66 GTO (all original) on the 14th; any precautions?

I'm going to be detailing a fully original 1966 GTO on the 14th of this month. Are there any special precautions that I should be made aware of? Anyone know if the paint is clearcoated? I'm a little nervous about working on this show car and don't want to screw up! The gentleman that I am...

Detailing (possibly future employer's) car this upcoming week and need some input.

I am going to be detailing a possible future employer's car this week and need some advice. He told me the last detailer they had was very nice but he did an awful job with the cars. He also said that he would first have me detail his car (Audi A4) and if all turns out well he would hire me as...

    Detailed my Jetta

Well, it was nice out yesterday (upper 30's....I'M DESPERATE!!!) so I decided to detail the Jetta. I did a rather swift detail job hitting the car with Mother's Clay, 3M-SMR, and S100. Reason for me doing so is because I plan to go over the car with SMR again and apply a sealant topped with a...

    Orange Power Pads

I received my Orange Power Pads and must say I am pleased with the quality and construction. I have yet to use them so I can't say how well they work just yet. The foam is dense and is almost like a memory foam (you push on it with your finger and it slowly comes to form again). The velcro...

After use of an ozone generator...

I am in the market for a car (used). I found one I REALLY like, but the only problem is the owner has smoked in the car before (has a cloth interior too). My question is, after use of an ozone generator, will the cigarette smoke smell return after awhile? Please tell me not!!! Oh how I hope...

Where do you all buy your Clay Magic at?:nixweiss Today I drove 1/2 hour to the nearest autozone to find that they have sold out for good(me being dumb didn't call before I went). I've looked everywhere from NAPA, Autozone, and Advanced Auto Parts to Wal-Mart and Target. Where can I find some...

How do you feel about CMA's new "finger pad's"?

I was in need of a new cutting pad so today I went on CMA's website and saw they have these pads now called a "finger pad" it's supposed to eliminate hop and allow the compounds to dry slower so they can be worked in better, and reduce caking. I decided I would order one over the phone and the...

My first actual customer...detailing their 740iL....pretty nervous

Well, at 1:30 today I go and pick up her car and bring it over to my house so I can detail it. It's a Black '00 BMW 740iL that gets run through the automatic car washes once every one or two weeks. I'm pretty nervous actually, I know I can do a good job but anxiety is taking over (I have an...

Wow, you're not going to believe what I just detailed....lol

I just got done applying KAR GARD to my Bburango Ferrari F-50 model. I've had this KAR GARD stuff sitting in my house for over a year now and didn't want to put it on my car. So, I figured I'd test it out and see how it holds up in my room (conditions are very harsh:D). I'll let you know how...

Filling a mildly oxidized chip on a hood.

My mother's car has a fairly good sized chip on her hood that is down to the bare metal which has now mildly oxidized. What could I use to rid the chip of the oxidation before priming then painting? I've tried sand paper glued on a pencil eraser but for some reason it didn't work.

Anyone ever heard of a product called "KAR GARD"?

About a year ago my friend worked at a dealership where the customers could pay them to put this sealant on their car called "KAR GARD". Anyways, my friend recieved 2 bottles of this stuff and gave one to me. I've had it sitting in my drawer ever since and just thought about it tonight. The...
