    DIY Database

A long time member here. I've gone through all of it, the MF towels, Porter Cables, polishes, waxes, etc. However, every time I try to look for something I end up getting confused by the hundreds of discussions going on, outdated info, etc. So last night I got pissed and set up a DIY Wiki...

    Cleaning out tint adhesive

Are there any good chemicals that will clean out tint adhesive without too much scrubbing, and will be effective? I'm not actually removing tint paper from a car window. It's a tint paper for a sign (made of clear plastic, looks kinda like glass). There's sticky stuff all over it from the...

    Great detailer needed in Socal

Anyone know of a good auto detailer in LA? I'm very picky as I don't want any swirl marks on my car when it's done. Else I can just take it to some cheap place to wash. I just don't have the time to deal with it right now and need my car detailed right away. BTW, my car is black so it's...

    Taking off adhesive from decals

I'm looking to take off the stuck on lable/decal in the back of my Mercedes (the "C320" part). I've heard of Goo Gone, but wasn't able to find it in my local auto store. Will this product named "Oops! Multi-Purpose Remover" do?

    Bodyshop paint easy to chip?

Ok I had a bodykit installed on my car, and since then I've noticed that the new front bumper chips easier than my stock ones. The bumper does extend lower to the ground, so that may have something to do with it. The thing I did notice before he put the kit on was that there were a ton of...

    Wax residue removal

I had a bodyshop paint and install a front bumper. When it was done I can see little streaks of stuff here and there. I'm guessing it's wax or some paint polish they used to clean up the paint. I didn't get it off right away (silly me I know). Now it's been like 2 weeks and I washed it...

    Polishing downside?

I'm gong to have to use my PC + SMR again tomorrow (my second time since a year ago) to get out these damn swirl marks left by a "car detailing shop" who installed my bodykit. I told them specifically to not wash it TWICE but those monkeys did it anyways. Now, every time you...

    spray paint spots help!!

A neighbor's house was getting painted (spray painted) and some of it got on my car. Now I see little white specs stuck on one side of my car. When I scratch the ones stuck on the windshield they come off, so hopefully they can be removed. What's the best way to get them off my car? Would...

    Mercedes Car Cover

Have to put my Mercedes outside for a couple of months. Was thinking about getting the Mercedes car cover they sell at the dealers. Is that good or bad? Does it scratch the paint? If not, what do you guys think if California Car Cover?

Car wash place with distilled water

I've heard of self-car-wash places that pumps out distilled water so that you don't get water spots on your car. Anyone familiar with such places and where they might be located in the Los Angeles area?

    Crevices

How do you guys get out water spots, wax leftovers, and other crap from within small crevices? There are quite a few on my Mercdes and it's frustrating to see little white specs on my black car.

    Gepc + S100

I'm thinking about giving up on Zaino and trying out S100. Now, I have GEPC on my car and after its application there is a layer of shiny polish left on my car. Am I supposed to wash that off prior to applying S100 or should I just apply right on top of it?
