Hi Mike, I have been reading several of your articles on this site. I have also visited autogeek.
I am not a profesional detailer. I detail my own cars and an occasional friends because I am a car appearance perfectionist and enjoy driving a detailed car.
I have owned a PC for 15 years and had reasonable results. I have tried many variants of polishes, waxes, and LSP's both organic and synthetic.
I have done some spot wet sanding. Inmost cases had good success, but I have screwed one of my vehicles up before also. Expensive mistake.

.
I am interested in trying a rotary polisher. From all the material it seems that the makita 9227C may be my best bet. Trading some weight for rpm flexibility. I see that autogeek sells the 9227 with a 7" backing plate and 8.5" pads. Can you tell me the tradeoffs of using 6.5 vs 8.5 pads? I assume autogeek is selling what they think is the best combo? but why? Thanks.
Shane
