    Three Products I HIGHLY Recommend

Not an in-depth review but just wanted to share my experience with three products I WILL NOT BE WITHOUT whenever doing a detail. So my wife's Range Rover Sport hadn't been tended to since last October, and that was just a wax before wintertime. I decided it was time to commit and spend 6-7...

Removing LOTS of set in leather cleaner from back seat

Long time no post...I recently acquired an '03 M Sport 540i/6M and on one of the back seat bottoms is what appears to be about a 1/4 bottle of leather cleaner/conditioner that has left a white spot on the seat. Should I try to steam clean it out? Other suggestions?

Poll: Auto Wash or Keep Salty and Dirty

Easy poll question, but I've been debating this one for the last 2 weeks, everyone thinks I'm stupid and have too much time but this is what I think about in the winter, in the horrible state of MA, within the horrible region known as the Northeast. I think I'm going to limit my auto washes...

    Meguiar's #26 - one question

Quick question about #26 paste. Some of you will recall a while back that melting two waxes together would yield the benefits of each of those waxes. I tried this with #26 and #16 and worked well though I never used my 'Meguiar's #42'. My question is, the remaining #26 I had was in chunks...

Can Someone Give Me Polish Equivalents?

I swear by my beloved 3M Polishing Duo / 1-2 punch, which is Fine Cut Rubbing Compound and Perfect It III Machine Glaze. I follow that up with either #26, #16, NXT 2.0 or Mother's Pure (depending on my mood). I also admit to not keeping up with all the seemingly new products that have flooded...

Makita 6.5" Backing Plate - Size OK for Most Pads?

Hey just wondering if the backing plate that comes with the Makita rotary, which is 6.5", will accomodate most 7.5"/8" pads? Most pads I see have a recessed area for the velcro attachment so your backing plate needs to be that size. I just don't want to buy a $20 6" backing plate if I don't...

Brand New Black Tundra D-Cab 4x4 X-SP - hooray NXT

Ok, for those of you that don't know, X-SP is a regional package available only in NC, SC, GA and FL. It goes to the Jacksonville port as a stripped down SR5 and gets leather interior, color matched flares, 20" Enkei wheels, running boards, XSP badges and XSP floormats. I also opted for...

Brand New Tundra Double Cab 4x4 first detail ?'s

Alright, so I've searched and searched and cannot seem to find the definitive answer to my questions - do I need to polish my brand new black Tundra that doesn't need clay and has ZERO swirl marks? Initially I thought of doing a quick and light polish with 3M SMR (I know it says SMR and has...

    Question on cleaning Mother's Powerball???

I searched around but couldn't find how exactly to clean the mother's powerball. Half of it is now all black from using it on polished aluminum wheels. I tried soaking it but the black is not coming out (and is now all over my hands). Anyone know how to get it close to its original red color...

2 Quick Questions: PI III/FI II & Pads for upcoming Denali detail

Hey guys and girls-- Two quick questions regarding polishing and my forth coming detail: 1. What is the difference between 3M's FI II Machine Glaze and their PI III Machine Glaze? 2. Is it better to use less aggressive pads and more aggressive product or vice versa? Just trying to...

What to write for follow up/thank you letter?

Just wondering, I recently picked up a couple of clients (I'm doing a very part time thing) and thought it would be a nice touch to send them a letter via snail mail thanking them for choosing me, hoping they were satisfied, to email or call me with any questions and to feel free to pass along...

Question on Meguiar's Routine--a bit CONFUSED

Ok, I searched and found alot of technical information on the products I used (including Mike Phillips' informative posts), but still find myself a bit confused. So let me just give some essentials, and if some people could chime in with advice, that would be great: 1996 Black Cobra, mint...

    Strongly considering a 97-98 540i Sport--thoughts?

Hey everyone, I've recently fallen in love with the 97-03 BMW 540i Sport :bow. The cars styling and overall elegance mixed with the performance has me sold...Since I can't afford a brand new one, I'm looking at the 97 or 98 years (which are basically the same anyway up to '03). I was...

Can I get a few opinions on this routine??

I am new here, but I think I'm somewhat knowledgeable on detailing. I have a '96 Black Mustang Cobra that is in good shape paint wise. There are minimal swirls/scratches even under bright light, with the exception of the trunk lid and spoiler, and a little bit on the hood... I am a big fan...
