I just got a new to me '08 MINI Cooper S cabrio. It's a last of the supercharged edition and has the limited edition stripes. I want to take a page from the originality movement in the collector car world and save them as best I can.
What can I do to keep them from cracking off/fading more...
Mentioned this round about ways in posts here and there but over the last three years I've been struggling with a bad back. First they added MS to it (which luckily I don't have) and now it's bad back plus Fibromyalgia. End result is that I'm barely able to work and find it difficult to get...
I've read over and over not to wash the engine bay in my Old Jag. Apparently water and wonky British Electrics don't mix. I've resisted the urge to do it but I've got a slight leak that I want to track down. The engine bay is very grimy and caked-on with muck. I figure with ONR, Waterless...
Going to be changing out some trim on the inside of the Jag - involves taking out the door panels and prying off some bits. Would something like:Six Piece Pry-Tool Kit,GSA,Red Hill Supply help me? Something better? Something I might already have? (guessing screwdriver would bugger it up)
After spending a bunch of time trying to get 18 year old carpets clean (to my standards) in the jag, I came to the realization that the best I could get was moderately dingy. New front floor board carpets weren't overly expensive so I started with those. Made a big difference!

Got some OPT MF cutting pads but see the polishing pads by them and Megs. Seeing that Megs markets it as a total system I would assume they can be used for final finishing. So where do these MF polishing pads fit in the scheme of aggressiveness?
I started out using Prima products when I first started detailing back a few years ago. Still like them even though not much mentioned. Has anybody tried their new Hydroseal?
? up front: What would be a good first restoration project
that is lower in cost to get in to?
Facing medical retirement from the Army and may go out to the
country to get low cost of living while I finish my
doctorate. So I'm think of doing a car restoration. My
parents did lots...
I don't have a PTG. Never did worry about it much when I had new cars. Now that I'm looking at probably doing a somewhat aggressive polish/compound on my 18 year old Jag, I'm thinking it might not be a bad idea. However, i'd probably only use it once. I see that the Highline II at something...
Been reading the threads on detailing world forum from over in the UK and I noticed that they seem to use a lot more wax. Outside of Collinite, I don't see a whole lot of wax used in the US and a lot more sealants. I wonder why that is?
Got an email from Griot's Garage this morning for a new product - Hamsheen Engine Bay Dressing. You spray it on the engine and as it warms it wafts the scent of bacon. I just have to get me some Hamsheen!
The Prima Swirl I was going to use is definitely too old - wouldn't come back together so I need to get something new.
The machine: PC 7336
The pads: Uber or LC Hydro 5.5 inch, need to get some MF but still trying to figure out what works with my PC's backing plate.
The challenge: 1994...
