Well my girlfriends car was a MESS! So I decided to work on it a couple weekends ago. This was my first big detail and first time really trying to clean up a dark colored car. The paint was pretty bad when we started, micromarring and scratches everywhere. There are some key marks (long...
So I'm taking a modleing and stress analysis class at school. We have to model a current item and redesign it to make it stronger and also try to keep it as light if not lighter than before. Once we model this part we get to fabricated the part using this prototyping machine that turns this...
Well I'm polishing my civic today and I can't get my tape to stick to my trim!!! I have tried two different rolls (brands) of painters tape. Anyone else ever ran into this problem? Its really getting on my nerves.
Do most of you all clean your pads during the detail? I have only 2 orange pads and I'm sure they will get pretty nasty. I have some danase pad cleaner but it requires a warm water soak. So what do you all do?
My dad has two harleys that he wants me to polish to get rid of the marring from using a crappy sponge when cleaning. What is the best way to do this? Most of the panels are small so I thought it would be hard to do with a PC?
I'm going to be using Menz. probably just 106ff. Maybe SIP if...
I'll let the pics speak for me...
Well long story short I was heading to blockbuster to return a movie before going to my girlfriends for new years. Pulled in the parking lot on the main road that goes through the shopping center. Guy I guess could not find parking in...
So I'm thinking of getting some of the Klasse AIO, just because I hear so many great things about it. But I'm not exactly sure what it does or the best way to apply.
For instance on my civic I planned on polishing with menz then use OS and s100. Does the OS do the same thing that Klasse AIO...
I'm looking for a product to protect my wheels. Alot of people seems to use Duragloss #111 sealant. Can I just use OS for the sealant or maybe Collinite? I get lots of brake dust with my racing pads so anything to help make cleanup's easier is welcomed.
I was reading Mikes's "book" on detailing. In it he says not to use a machine on plastic parts like the bumpers as it "smears" the finish (this because of the flex agent added to the paint).
Does anyone else have experience with this??
Also how does one remove scratches from parts like...
I'm sure many of your are pro detailers, but for the rest of you...what do you do?
I'm currently a student at the University of Louisville. I'm studying for my Masters in Mechanical Engineering. Right now I'm in a co-op semester at Alcoa Aluminum doing engineering. I also work part time at...
how many cars can you do with
16oz of menzerna polish?
Im thinking of just getting some from deatailinggurus.com and its cheaper than buying the 32oz bottles, but I just want to make sure Ill have enough for a couple cars if not more.
TIA
OK I'm looking to get pads for my PC. I tried to do a search but nothing really came up that answered my question totally.
What size(s) should I be looking at purchasing? Originally it looked like most people were using a 6.5" pad. But as I have done some research it seems pad size varies...
OK I need a few items and thought I would see if anyone on here might have some of it laying around that they want to get rid of.
Looking to get:
Some 6.5" pads. Was looking at the LC Yellow, Orange, White and Blue/black. Might settle for any other brand that is comparable.
Also...
Are these considered the same thing or seperate steps? It seems some people say they clean the paint and others just use a polish like menzerna SIP and 106ff then wax.
Assuming they are different is it acceptable to polish with the SIP and 106ff then clean the paint with something like...
Well I thought I would do something a little different. I'm going to post pics of my car as it sits now (not detailed). I'm wanting to show the progress off the car over the winter so I will try to update it when I work on it.
I'm hoping it might help some people (as I will try to add...
