    Bird and water spots

I've found a couple of spots on the car that won't come out with washing or QD, and I strongly suspect they were caused by bird droppings or acid rain. They don't seem to have penetrated past the clear coat... and they really don't show much on the surface. You really have to look hard to see...

    Zaino dries clear?

I've heard that if you get Zaino on rubber or in cracks, it won't show as white because it dries clear -- unlike regular car wax. The difference being that it is a "sealant". True? Doesn't it "haze" when dry?

    Clay technique

I've done searches here on claying and didn't see this situation: A couple of tiny "specks" I can see (and feel) in the paint don't seem to completely come out with the clay. I've gone back over them, and now they are completely smooth... but some of the speck (tar? road grime that got...

Light nicks - buff or paint?

On the plastic nose of my dark-red car, I see some light spots which must have been caused by rocks. I can barely feel a slight abrasion on one of them... but a couple of them are SO light I cannot even feel the nick! Anybody encountered this before? If there is no actual chip in the paint...

    QD danger with brakes?

I'm new at quick detailing, but everything seems to be going fine--light mist, wipe, looks great--until I get to the wheels. The thought of shooting a fine mist on the spokes and having some of it go onto the brake rotors made me pause. Is this safe? Any danger of this lubricant building up on...

    Detailing while traveling

Any tips from the experts about maintaining a car's finish while traveling? I've been in and out of rain showers over 3 days. What should I have been doing instead of sitting at the motel looking at drops all over the car... 1. Hunt down a car spray-wash after every rain shower? or 2. Try to...

    Silicone in QD a problem?

I've been reading some posts here (like a good newbie) and noticed some aversion to using quick detailers with silicone. One comment made reference to silicone "build up" that can't be removed. Is this true? Any other problems with silicone? Wes

    California Duster BETTER with age?

I'm sure folks here have used the California Duster. The makers claim it works better the more you use it. How is that? You would think that it would be more likely to scratch your car as it picks up more and more dust.

    Shiny dash

Help! I made a mistake and shined the top of the dash with a vinyl protectant. Now it reflects too much when driving into the sun. Is there a good way to dull this down, yet keep some "protection" on the vinyl (and I'm assuming it's vinyl).

    Floor protectors

Anybody know a source for those disposable paper/plastic-coated floor mat protectors that repair shops use?

Car cover helps or harms in storm?

I've heard that car covers might scratch a finish if blown about by excessive wind -- and to never transport a vehicle with a cover on. But what about a storm, where there is considerable rain AND wind?? Would it be better to leave the cover off and risk having rain (and leaves, etc.) pound...
