    6 inch or 5 inch backing plate

    Just got a 7424 and it came with a 6 inch velcro backing plate. Do I need to get a 5 inch backing plate to use with LC 6.5 inch pads? Anyone had problems prematurely wearing out pads using a 6 inch backing plate with 6.5 inch pads? thanks
