On body lines such as a crease down the center of a hood, on these high points do you tape them if you are polishing your hood (if there are no scratches in it anyway) Now it seems like you would obviously have un-uniformity where the tape is but polish being a light abrasive will it be ok on...
I know its just plastic (except for tank) but what are my limits or should I say the most I can do to detail it. There are lots of scratches on plastics and oxidation on gas tank.

I was wondering when using my buffer is it ok to compound / polish right over the spaces from trunk panel to side panel or like across door panels or will this cause to eat right through the paint at these points since it seems likely to do so.
