First Time w/ Rotary *pics*

Where did my title go?
Well I finally got a pratice hood. I have played around with a rotary , but this is my first time actually trying to correct defects. I did this panel with DACP w/ rotary, then Speed Glaze w/ PC and S100 to top. The hood looked pretty good with just the DACP and Speed Glaze but I wanted the full affect.:) The spots that you see are rock chips and what not.

Cool, sorry I couldn't come today. Did you use the yellow pad with the DACP? How did you think the foam was vs. the wool we use the other day?

Wet sanding next? :naughty

Yep you were right about the grip of the foam over wool....I'm wiping sweat off my face as we speak:lmfao If you get over on the edge of the hood it'll throw ya:lmfao

Can't wait for the wet sanding:hungry

way to go .looks like I have some catching up to do..LOL..I haven't got a rotary yet ...
 
Great job !!!

The only way to learn is to jump in and get your feet wet !!! You will be amazed how easy it is to get comfotable with the rotary. Great job again !!!

Way to go! Good for you. You've got alot more guts than I have. What a remarkable difference between the finished section and the untouched. Amazing. Nice work. :)
 
So did you use a wool bonnet? - Or just the foam pads? I gave it a go again with my car using ssr2 and the meg's yellow pad on the horizontals. Then ssr1 all over with the PC @ 5.5 it came out awesome.

Nice work - aren't free hoods GREAT!! You get to try what ever you want, and no risk to your personal / customer's vehicle!!

What do you do to secure yours to work on? I just layed mine over sawhorses and had my son hold it, but I don't think the PC has anywhere near the kick of a rotary.

very nice work ranger, you said you used foam pads on the rotary. Are these the pads as posted by Scott P?

"Finally, I'm going to test the waters for an additional pad type that may or may not make it into my regular rotation. I bought a bunch of 7.5" Lake Country tufted foam pads. These are described as the 8.5" "Finger" pads by other vendors. They are best fo rotaries are safer than wool. Those people just trying a rotary should give these pads a try. They fit a 7 inch backing plate and really do an excellent job. I've got them in yellow, orange, white and blue. They usually retail for $17.95, but I'm selling them for $10.95 to see how things go".

I just bought a couple of these 'cause I'm too chicken to work with a wool pad as a beginner.

I actually just laid mine over the patio furniture table...It seems to fit just right. :) Very sturdy with little or no movement. We had a cookout tonight with my family and friends..... and you should have seen the look on their faces when they came to the backyard and saw a buick hood sitting on top of my table :lmfao

I used the edge classic pads. I have never used the finger pads before, Do they grab as much as regular foam pads?
