Layering EX-P??

Anybody layer EX-P? How much did each layer improve the gloss, depth etc.? How long did you wait between layers? :cool

I have 5 coats of EX-P on my car. I say after 3 it's hard to tell a difference. I wait at least 24 hours between coats.

I stop at 2 layers of EX-P (anywhere from 1 to 8 days apart). The second layer seems to result in increased gloss. I tried 3 layers over a 48 hour period once, but I didn't notice any significant benefit over just 2 layers.

I noticed the big differance on the third layer of EX-P. It definately gained a lot more depth.
Ace - What color was the paint? I applied my 3 coats to a light beige metallic colored paint.

It was 2002 Ford Black Clearcoat. Seemingly gave it almost an orange peel effect. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Truly beautiful.

Two or three at most would be okay. After that, you would just be wasting product. The reason 2 or 3 seem to help, which is pretty much true of any top coat, is that you are filling in some areas that may have been missed the first time or received very light coverage. To get a little more pop out of it, try topping it with S100 or Meguiars #16. It really enhances the color, especially dark colors.:)

I tend to disagree depending on the product. Synthetic sealants all perform differantly when layered depending on the paint color and product. Klasse for example, I have noticed steady improvements up to the fifth coat. EX-P blossomed on the third coat for me. UPP I have only applied on coat and love that.

I do agree that a top coat of good carnauba does add a little extra though, no matter what sealant you have applied.

Just my 2 cents.

Ahhh. I haven't tried 3 layers of EX-P on a very dark color. I'll add it to my list of things to do. :)
