Microfibre help

hammondc

Damned pollen!!!
Can someone suggest a microfibre towel to me? I have NEVER used microfibre, but I hear it is the way to go for black paint. Also, what are the points to consider when buying microfiber towels?

Give this a read and you'll get all the information you could ever need . Don't forget to buy your towels from one of the site sponser's . PAC gives you 10% off for being a member here.

In my own opinion, the more you pay for, the better you get. The fabric ratios here are important.
Ex. A walmart microfiber towel might only cost $1 but youre better off getting a t-shirt and riping it to the size of that towel.
I would go with anything that is sponsered on DC. These products are sold by people who know what theyre dealing with.
They may be a bit more, but dont look for lower grades sold at lower prices.

No!
But I'm not qualified to explain the differences.
Phil's reference to getting what you pay for pretty well sums it up.

so far I have Klasse Sealant Glaze, 5 soft touch microfiber towels and the big blue microfiber chamois.

for the most part it is a good article, but it has opinions(bias) not facts, as to likes and dislikes of certain types of towels. I also believe you get what you pay for and the towels at Walmart, Costco etc..can have a purpose like interiors, wheels, engines and jambs without adverse effects. I also like the quality mitts for interior dusting and also use them for occassional exterior buffing with no problems, but did realize quite quickly that they do not rinse free their dirt and are not suited for washing.
Unfortunately he also generalizes a little bit too here and there, as quality control in Korea and China, even on the best towels, can be so so. We hand inspect each towel just in case, as we do find stains and a rough corner every once in a while.
So to answer your question hammondc ...no they are not all the same..

ok. Well I am gonna order from sponsors on here so I guess I will hope for the best. Whats the real diff btw 80/20 microfiber and 70/30. I know the obvious, but which is better.

Klasse Sealant Glaze 16.9 Ounce

3 Arctic White Microfiber Polishing Cloth 16x24

1 Big Blue II Microfiber Chamois
2 Soft And Plush Microfiber

Thats what I got

I've been using some microfiber towels that have taped hems that keep them from stretching, so they last FOREVER!! I've have some of my towels for years!! If you can find them, they're worth buying.

Was at AutoZone this week and saw Viking brand MF towels. They actually felt very soft. One side was plush, the other was a tighter weave. What surprised me was they had satin taped seams. Made in Korea. $4.99 each (a little expensive IMO).

Anyone try these?

I would like to say the orange Viking towel with it's "flat tight" weave is in my opinion an excellent polish / wax removal towel. I like my Sonus Buffing towels for plush soft final buffing and maybe PakShak's Ultra Fine too, but I really like the Viking's "bite" on a polish or wax. Does that make sense to you? The Viking green glass and blue drying towels seem ordinary to me and not worth the price compared to other good general purpose utility towels. The Viking orange is an under appreciated MF and it's weave is pretty unique. It does seem like the orange Sonus MF pads have a similiar weave, come to think of it. Hum?

I doubt the Sonus are the Viking MF, DavidB I know custom makes his MF and are quite different. It might be he took the idea or something I have no clue :dunno The White Viking I believe is pretty good too. I wish I had good Viking MF, only WallyMart MF for me :(

Me too. I believe I said a "similiar" weave after I said the orange weave was unique.

By the way, Woob, I have never seen the White Viking towels. I curious what they are like. Are they "terry" style or what? Thanks.

Go to www.pakshak.com and then email them. Ranney, the owner of the company, posts here and is a great guy who provides as good a towel as there is anywhere.....I love mine, and he'll give you an excellent price after you tell him you post here. I've had excellent results buying from him. Highly recommended for towels and he's also a distrubutor for Poorboys stuff.

Woob,

Don't overlook eBay for MF if your local sources are limited. My first MF purchase was from Wally World & it was just OK .... kind of thin if you know what I mean. I searched eBay for MF & waffle weave towels, found someone selling "plush" yellow MF 16" x 16" towels so I bought some.

They're thicker than the Wally World towels & they're made in Korea. Supposedly best MF comes from Korea and these are incredibly soft even after washing.

Also bought a couple 24" x 16" golder yellow waffle weave towels to keep in the trunk and a 54" x 28" blue towel for regular washings. All are very soft & absord water like a thirsty camel.
