Finally found a garage

Jennifer and I have been house hunting for the last few weeks. We have finally found one that we are making an offer on. It is a lovely garage with a nice house attached. :naughty The garage is nearly 3 cars wide and 2 cars deep. It is just awesome. I'll have to post some pictures when I take some. I took video of the house today, but not still pictures of the garage. It is just amazing and I had to tell somebody about it. :) I've seen some garages that I was extremely jealous of and now its my turn. :naughty

It definitely has some landscaping to deal with. They were plant people. Its not a house that needs life brought into it. Its more like we need to remove some life. I'd rather have it that way. I'll post more pictures when we close on it. I'm just excited. Its my first house. We've been in a duplex for a few years. Its a nice duplex, but its not the same as having your own house, ya know?

Very nice. Congratulations on the house, hope your offer makes it. Those plants in front look pretty scary, but some trimming will do. Maybe you'll find a suprise in there or something!

When house hunting, I have always explained to the real estate agents that I was "looking for a certain sized garage, with a house attached". Agents that didn't grasp this concept were soon given their walking papers.

Jngrbrdman - Hope your offer is accepted. That sounds like a nice garage. Room for 4 cars and detailing supplies! :)

We went through a lot of houses to find that one. The big selling point is that the only work it needs is just some gardening. We call it "The Jungle House" because the owners have a thing with plants. They have a million of them and they are really overgrown. The ones out front are roses and you know how those can get if not trimmed. I'm not going to tell the homeowners this, but the first thing I plan on doing is ripping just about everything out and starting over again. Its just too wild and there isn't much that can be done. Here is the listing if anyone is curious. There are some more pictures there. You can see how crazy that back yard is. Its all coming out.

:lol I wanna big garage now with a nice driveway. Nothing is more annoying than always having to stress on how you park, if you hit the car next to you, etc. Shoot I will take an apartment and have a beautiful garage!

The entry of the driveway on this one is kind of narrow. The garage was built on after the house was built. I don't know how long ago that was, but it has to have been awhile. Originally I think it was just a carport. It would have been a hell of a carport with that much space. The garage is the size of my first apartment I think. lol I may have to put a kitchen and a bathroom in it just for the heck of it.

Wow, I can see why you call it a jungle. It does seem to be overcrowded with foliage. Mature plants can be pretty expensive. Maybe you could see if any of your friends or family would be interested in transplanting some of them?

Well, since all of my family lives back east and all of Jennifer's family lives in California, I think that rules them out. We have some how managed to not make many friends out here, so I guess I'll just ask the neighbors if they want them. Here are some other pictures that we took. Inside needs zero work. The carpets are new. The doors are new. The windows are new. The only work needed is physical and free and outside. I've got a few friends still from when I worked construction. One has already said he would help finish a deck or build anything I wanted. The other trims trees kind of like I detail cars. He owes me some favors and says he'll do the work for free. Its all just falling together nicely. Now if we can just get everything sorted out smoothly from here, then we'll be fine. :)

I noticed a few things and thought I would ask questions. First, I notice in the listing is said the sewer was connected is that like a common problem? Second, all the plants--isn't that kind of like tree hugging. My wifes kind of like that but not as bad. When I mow I just kind of accidentily mow it all down (kind of makes her real mad). Last and this one I am really curious about, but above the washing machine I saw a picture of three filter, and I am thinking this is an RO system. Is there high nitrites or something else in the water? With young childern that is a huge concern. On the postive you will have RO water for final rinse on your vehicles.

I'm also in the process of looking for a new house and that is one of the things I am looking for 2 car garage, but not having good luck. Most people have a carport. anyways nice place and I hope ya get it.

Good question on that filter thing. I don't know what that is. Jennifer took the pictures down there. I'll have to ask what that is for. I'm sure it isn't anything too important because I've never seen anything like that before. I used to work for a company remodeling houses and I've been in a lot of them. I've never seen a filtering system like that before. I'm sure its something else. And all of those plants are going with the owners when they move out. I'm going to probably dig up most of the rest and get rid of them. I'm just not a fan of wild and overgrown plants. I grew up in a very well groomed yard and this is just not what I'm used to. We won't shed too many tears as we dig those up and prune the trees. Its a lot of work, but its free work. I would much rather have to dig out some plants than replace all the carpets and doors inside the house or something.

The sewer being connected thing just means that it goes right into the city sewer and you don't have to worry about it all backing up into your yard. At least, that is how the agent explained it to me.

I don't think I'll be running much of a business out of my garage. I'm just getting too busy to do much with it. I can't hardly find time to do 3 or 4 cars a week anymore. I think I'll just stay mobile. More than anything I like that I'll have the space in case there is a project that I want to undertake. If nothing else then its going to be a great place to park my motorcycle next winter. :naughty

Big garages are awesome!! I'm already jealous of you. :lmfao

It's funny that you said nice garage with a house attached, because that's how the house that my uncle owns was advertised!! I remember the add he showed me when he was still looking at it. That's what it said in big bold letters at the top. Boy they were not kidding. Have fun with that big garage-I know my uncle does. Things in his garage: F150, Boat, MotorCycle (Might be for sale), RX330 and RV. His garage is 1600 Sq. Ft.

Dang! 1600 sq ft??? That is like the size of my ego! :naughty That is freaking huge!! I want a garage that big. If I ever cash out all of my Mullet Wax stocks, then I am going to build a house with a garage that is massive. I'm going to have a finished bedroom in there and a bathroom to boot. The whole thing will be climate controlled and look like the shop on Horsepower TV. Its going to be great. And I'll park my trailor right out next to it so I will have someplace to party that won't mess up my garage. :naughty This is my idea of a perfect property. Huge garage on the right and little living space on the left. :lol

Hey Fuzz, that might be the bathroom on the left. Better keep sleeping in the trailer.

That makes sense. Can't have the ladies hear you punishing the porcelain after a rough meal at El Gordo's House of Burritos. That wouldn't be very smooth. That place must have the living area on the right and the garage in the middle. Perhaps there is a basement too.... I'm going to have to find that place and get the blue prints. :naughty
