Hi everyone at DC

NYV6Coupe

Livin' the good life
I've been lurking here for a while & I'm impressed by the amount of useful info, minimal flaming, and general mutual tolerance that most everyone has for others.

Looking forward to learning some new stuff & sharing what I know and where I've found great prices on products.

I drive a 2000 Accord EX V6 Coupe that's Satin Silver and 100% stock aside from some 17" Acura TSX wheels with Falken ZIEX 512's. I'm always on the look-out for a better shine.

We'll be in touch.

Hey jeffbruce, thanks for the welcome.

no pics on hand right now, I'm waiting for an order of VM + EX-P from www.specialtymotoring.com to get here tomorrow so I can get after the car this weekend.

Also got to get my camera back from a friend, will post up soon as possible.

I think I have an orange peel problem, reflectivity & finish are VG but anything with a straight line (like a house or fence) isn't real sharp. I've been told I should color sand but that scares me to death.

How do I know if the clear is orange peeled or if it's the paint underneath? I've used IP & FPII and the surface is smooth as a babies bottom but the reflections are not what I'd like them to be.

Yeah, the car is silver but I know it can look better.

Looks way-y-y-y to chancy & definitely way-y-y too much work but thanks for the reading material.

I bought a PC to get away from this kind of manual torture & I don't have the "discretionary income" to cover professionally fixing what I amateurishly screwed-up.

Looks like I'll just have to get used to it, or get back to ignoring it (ignorance is bliss).

Hi NYV, and welcome to DC.

I have a 2000 black Accord that was in pretty dismal condition when I got it. Lots of swirls and scratches. I am having (soon I hope) the front end re-painted, but the sides and back came out amazing with SSR3 followed by SSR1 (my new mistress) and my PC.

You have to work real hard to damage your paint with a PC (IMHO), so give it a try. I am certain you will be happy with the results. Also, befor you start, check out the sites on using the PC ( I forget where they are, but a search will uncover them for you). Be patient tho, sometimes it takes a while to get the hang of it.

Hey freedre,

I've used the PC with IP & FPII and been very satisfied with the results, just a bit disappointed 'cause I was hoping for a bit more. I've got some SSR2.5 coming with the VM and EX-P, should be here tomorrow.

I picked up some real good, confidence inspiring info from autopia-carcare.com and properautocare.com about the proper use of PC 7336. I got lucky 'cause the 7336 comes with the 6oz weight and I can use the 6.5" and 7.5" Lake Country Mfg. pads with this setup.

My Saturday:
wash with Dawn
clay
wash with NXT
SSR2.5
FPII
VM
EX-P
Sunday: EX-P 2nd coat
Monday: S100

Hi groebuck, thanks for the welcome & for your feedback.

In the past I've used Ivory to clean the car when I was going to try a new regimen of products but I'm sure I read something at Zaino.com or Autopia.com "How To ... " articles about using Dawn.

Dawn has mega detergent & is way too harsh to use on a regular basis but I'm here looking for new
ideas.

What do you use to clean your paint before trying new products so you can fully & accurately evaluate
the results? I'm open to suggestions.

Welcome to DC! I use carwash shampoo and haven't had any problem yet. Btw imho you'll love VM on silver(or on anything for that matter) it makes it wet.

Hi rabbi, thanks for the welcome.

I usually use NXT shampoo with excellent results. I'll probably try the PB cash wash when it's released or I might buy some of the Menzerna shampoo.

I'm very pleased with the other Menzerna products, thought I have not tried FMJ yet.

Aside from the cost if priced individually, I've yet to read a negative comment about FMJ so you've got to buy it as part of a kit.
