Yesterday I got home and in the mail I received one of those coupon packets, for all local companies. As I was fliping through I saw one for this local detailing company and thought everyone here would find it intresting. It turns out they have a website www.drdetail.com check it out

They seem to be honest about it. It may not be the quality of some of the work here by DC members and it doesn't look like they have any type of paint correction, but if they find a market and they're honest about it....nothin' wrong with that.

No, I don't think so. IIRC he was asked that some time ago, and there is a thread where he explains the origin of his name. DC DrDetail in in CA, where are you Focus?

Im in Northern New Jersey!

I posted it up because I thought it was a really nice webstie (well thought out,as well as layed out very nicely.) I also figured it would be nice to show everyone what their pricing was like!

It seems that this company is more of a franchise kind of a company where you buy all of your assentials ect...and they dispatch you accordingly!...but I don't know for sure about that!

So I am curious - how do you detail folks bring your own water? Is it a tank in the van or something? How much water do you have to bring for a days work????

Yeah, I use a 125 gallon tank in my F150 with plumbing to my pressure washer with about 100 feet of hose. I can do about 9 or 10 cars with that much water. Vans are much more practical because your equipment is hidden and secure, which is why I plan on getting a van as a second unit.

from their employment oppertunities it looks like they hire everybody from highschool kids to having professional detail do sub-contract work for them.
But if they're getting $99 for a "full" detail on the car, how much can they be paying the sub-contractor :dunno
I guess it isn't bad for the slow winter months:dunno

Just my $.02

Probably wouldn't be a bad Idea for a MLM kind of company! hmm that has me thinking!

You start your company (Google Details) and build your client base!

For a fee of say $100.00 + start up costs you take on partners! Teach them how to detail and they build their client base. Any Details they do you the founder gets a percentage!

They can take on their partners at the same $100.00 +start up costs. (for each new employee you receive 70% of the start up costs and the guy below receives 30%) For every detail he does You get a percentage, the other guy gets a percentage and so on and so on .... eventually making the original detailer the king of his own little empire...

Essentially people are buying the reputation of the name not the paticular detailer!

Exactly & thanks for remembering:)

I'm in So-Cal (Inland Empire to be more precise) and I neither endorse nor oppose those others out there who are using the "Dr. Detail" name professionally. I know they're out there, one's in South Orange County, CA; there's another in AZ, and one in NJ -- I'm sure there's probably more. As one of the guys I used to work with many years ago told me, I shoulda @#$%^ trademarked it. Oh well, live and learn.

here's the link to how I acquired the nick-name

Ahh The Dr. has finnaly arived!

I posted this because when I saw the coupon come in the mail...I said to my self ...Nah ..I thought he was in California! But hey you never know what kinds of operations people are running.

I remember reading a different post a while back in which you went more in depth into your resume! Pretty Impressive and Im sure you could show a young guy like myself a few things about detailing!

Doc,
Glad to know that my mind hasn't totally turned to mush from sniffing PB Products!
Where in the "Inland Empire" are you located? We lived in Chino Hills from '83 ~ '89 when we moved to AZ for the heat LOL.
Norah

PS - did you ever find a position suitable for a man of your incredible skill, talents and expertise?

Complete detail $99 !!!

I am also in NJ, and I thought my prices were pretty reasonable !!! I really do not know how they do it !!!

Im sure they are not coming close to the level of quality that most if not all of the members here are working towards!

Plus im sure those are there very basic rates...im sure there has got to be some fine writing somewhere giving the excess charges ect!

my dad actually told me about this late nite. he said that he saw this in some kinda motocycle magazine or something. he was also telling me that they work with mothers products.......

On the subject of price, I went to the Honda dealership where I bought my new element to drum up some business. The salesman had mentioned that the mgr. was looking for a detailer . Since I bought the car there , it gave me alittle more confidence for some reason to approach these guys. It turns out that they do 90 details a month and split it equally among 3 shops at $75 bucks a pop. I was like wow. But he then went on to say that these co.'s are more like McDonalds instead of Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. So I took the compliment and offered my services in an emegency situation. He called me a week later for an headliner stain . I charged him $75 for the stain and carpet extraction.

It was great to get a job from a business that everybody told me would never call....HA
