How do the pro's do it?!?!?!

My L5-S1 is killing me!
I just started a detailing business recently and this past weekend I did a 00 Exploder (6.5 hrs Sat) and a 02 Exploder (8 hrs Sun)

I am beat, muscles in my hands hurt, back sore, cut and bruised, etc

I just need to know if your body gets used to the pain or if getting out of bed everyday is a struggle :lol
You guys are human and not detailing machines?.......right?

Its like any other thing that you so, your body gets use to it. I take Advil before I start to cut down on the pain that comes after. The time that it took you is about right.

Most of the "professionals" in the area throw some filler wax on the cars and call it day. LOL For real though I workout in my basement and think that helps a lot. Maybe start working out some or something? I am sure after you do enough cars you will be fine though.

I have been going to the chiropractor for about a year now and it's helped alot. He'd tought me two very important steps to take while working. First make sure you stretch before you start detailing , this is a high impact workout with all the moving and twisting. Second stop through out your work and get in your neutral postion , basicly putting your back and hips in place and giving it a few minutes to rest, these two things have helped me tremendously.

I'm not a pro but I do hurt afterwards and the next couple of days following. So can I be included?

Lots of water and take breaks as mentioned above. It is something about all of those contortions that really make your muscles ache.

I don't detail daily but some tips to help you out!

Water/Juice (not from concentrate juices Only the real Stuff) are both good to replinish your body) I prefer lots of water, I tend to drink 8-10 20oz bottles worth daily (even when I am not detailing in the heat) When in the heat i add 2 or 3 more bottles!
(Although Cold water feels great...its not ... cold water when your body is hot can actually force you to cramp up...keep it cool ..not cold)

Vitamens... I take Centrum Sport 1 per day ... beleive it or not ... works great ..

Bananas...From what I was told by my physical trainer a few years back when you body cramps up its typicly a sign of low potassiam levels ... he suggested a Bananna daily!

Instead of squating to do lower panels on cars I started kneeling while useing really soft knee pads... although this helps while not really cutting down on movibility it can still be harmfull on your knees .. if your comfortable getting one of those short seats on wheels ... go for it... heck make one your self ..

Stretch ...its not a bad idea to stretch before.... I stretch out my hands ....arms legs...neck ... you name it ... i know it sounds funny but hey I don't need to wake up all stiff in the morning either...

Hope these suggestions help ...

I agree with taking lots of water breaks, and making sure you stretch afterwords. Also, make sure you squat down and bend your knees instead of hunching your back too much.

This is true. One of my coaches used to say "a banana a day keeps the cramps away." I firmly believe in that to this day.

The funny thing is I do go to the gym a couple times a week. I drink a 2-litre of water during a full detail too.
I use a small stool for detailing wheels, polishing lower panels, etc. I don't stretch, I'll have to try that, and the vitamin thing too.

detailbarn-

Is the neutral poisiton standing or sitting to do that?

Yeah same thing here. Its all new to me and my body , hopefully over time my body will get used to it . I compare it to breaking in a new tool or motor . You have to take easy for a while until your breakin peroid is over. The more you do something the more you get into a routine and so does your body : lmfao
