Me vs a gunship

I'll figure it out....

Had another chance to use the mak today. Did an all-day job on my father's car. It did not come out as good as I hoped, as the paint is hard laquer, and has a lot of cracking in the paint, as well as a lot of orange peel. No access to any sand paper, or compound, so i pretty much had to do with what I had on hand:

FPII
SSR2.5
SSr1

You can't really see it but there were a lot of scratches and swirl marks in the paint. I could not get all the scratches out, but I did manage to hide them a little bit. Sorry for the out of focus pics.

Specs you might see are the heavy metalic flake.

I'll have more pics uploaded hopefully tommorrow

Neat! Looks like a nice job to me! :bigups

Is that an Electra 225? I loved those vehicles. Driving one was like "floating on a cloud"!

It's a 1969 Buick LeSabre 400 (aka, the gunship). Personally, I really liked the more square Electras.

I was way too confident in what I thought i could do for the car in it's current condition. This baby's going to take a little more time than I thought, so I am going to re-focus primarily on the dark blue sections, to see I can get more reflection out of them. After that, I will re-tackle the light blue sections. The chrome has had it, and i can't get the old man to look into restoring it again, and I can't afford it right now. Even though it is not daily driven any more (retired to summer duty about 5-6 years ago), it still has the scars from all the years of benign neglect (and a few piss poor paint jobs done by folks that should've known better:mad: )

This is going to be an on-going series I guess then.. Hopefully I will have not gone completely :crazy by the time it's all over.

Some more pics... overcast day and all. I wanted to do a full profile. but there was not enough space to do the shot.

Originally on the car:

ssr2.5
ssr1
FPII
#26

The roof was treated with ssr2.5, FPII, SSR1, and then #26. Didn't like the look of 26 on the roof, so I am going to strip it,
and do either 16 or Natty's

What you now are seeing is results of some other stuff I used this time. Only the hood and decklid were worked on for this experiment:

TOL HC
TOL LC
TOL PPG
#16

A few things I discovered with this experiment.

1. TOL offers some really great professional products.
2. PoorBoys offers some really great products
3. the Mak has a bit more of a learning curve than I thought.
4. I gonna need some more pads for this badboy:lmfao

Next, I am going to work on the sides. I figure I'll be using either ssr1 or VM, or maybe do both for kicks and giggles. Then I will will see what topper I like on the car. And hopefully get a nice shot of it in the sun.
