Why distilled water to remove KSG?

I've read a tip suggestion to use distilled water on a rag along with a dry MF to remove KSG.

Why distilled water? Will tap water work?

Distilled water won't leave any water spots. Tap water has minirals which can leave water spots or dull the finish. Its not a big deal either way but I do always use distilled water.

Jngrbrdman,

I didn't know if distilled water would effect KSG before it cured.

Why do you think it may extend SG?

I'm just saying it would extend the life compared to rinsing with normal hose water. The absense of the minerals may help not eroding the SG. Its not going to help by much, but its not going to be as harsh as using hose water. That is, if you can consider hose water "harsh".

Thanks Jngrbrdman,

I'm just looking for a more economical method than using Sonus to buff out SG?

I may try distilled water next weekend.

Applied KSG and wiped of with a damp cloth (tap water) and buffed with a MF towel.

Wow was that easy!

Will try distilled water this weekend. Presently have 3 coats of KSG ... going for 5, then S100 or #16.

Make sure that the SG is fully cured before topping with carnauba. I had two episodes of hazing when I topped too soon. 24 hours was not long enough in my case. Waiting one week seemed to avoid the hazing problem.
