I have recently become convinced, after trying Vanilla Moose, that you need a glaze for the true wet look. After polishing the surface will still have slight imperfections that only a glaze (imo) will correct. Think of a piece of wood - no matter how well you sand it, it will always have imperfections and if you varnish over them the finish will always be rough, but when you use a wood filler/sealer, it levels the wood for a glass-smooth finish. Same with paint. Start doing that glazing step and you'll see the difference. At least that's what I think.
