Thanks. :)

SSR1 worked well to remove the large swirls. I still have some smaller ones that can only been seen when you are up close and looking at the correct angle. Overall I was very satisfied.

Has your friend with the dark green coupe been to ACURA-LEGEND.com? It's a great forum for Legend owners.

More EX-P

Oh, you think that's nice? Check out the reflection off the SC430 in the garage! Notice the broom in the corner?

SC430 in Garage

All this by hand (EX-P) that is, the previous polishing was rotary/PC.

Find SSR 2.5 quite good at swirl removal and minor and I do mean minor scratch removal.

Still playing "Let's top the EX-P!" to find different effects. Was going to do the Souveran paste, but may hit it with one coat of Zaino Z2 w/o ZFX just to see.

Very nice! That is a really great color and you've got it looking fantastic too!

Is that Mt. Rainier in the background?

Thanks Guys!!!

And yes, that is Mt. Rainier in the background.

I hope it doesn't rain today. The Legend will be outside all day today.

UPDATE: It didn't get rained on!!! Yipeeeeeeeeeee. LOL

I also just went out and bought a sheepskin wash mit so I'm not introducing any new swirls with my old wash mit.

Question For You Guys

I noticed this even after I took my Legend out of the garage for the first time, but now I'm noticing it more.

Mainly on the hood, there are large "blotchy" marks depending on what light you are looking at it in. It's almost like something was not buffed enough or something like that. My questions:

1. What caused this and how can I prevent it in the future?

2. Will they go away when I wash this Saturday?

You can't see the blotches in pictures or in direct sunlight, the lighting has to be just right. At first I even thought I was just over analyzing since it was all new stuff, but now that the car is a little dusty I know I'm not nuts.

Thanks guys.

Looks good.

What was the condition of the car before starting?
Is the blotchiness over a hot parts of the engine?
Is the paint BC/CC or SS?

If the wash does not solve the problem redoing the hood is the best bet.

Eric

I'd try putting on another coat first..maybe you did not get complete coverage:dunno

that definitely is weird that you don't see it under direct light or pictures and only certain lighting....

could it be a reflection:) :dunno

The condition of the car was great. The blotchs are in the center of the hood, but the car had not been driven before the wax was applied. It almost looks like not enough buffing was done, even though I did buff a lot and even did extra on the hood.

91LSMAN,

Did you use a QD after? This sometimes can happen if the sealant hasn't fully cured and the QD may have smeared it or it may have been residual product on a MF towel as well when you did a QD or final wipe.

Seen it happen before with other sealants. Another coat and just make sure all towels are clean and fresh. Let it sit up overnight B4 breaking out the QD.

Well, after I wash, if it's not gone I'll try another coat.

Thanks guys.

It almost looks like back when my dad had a black car and it needed more buffing. I have a feeling that washing will remove it.

It also kinda looks like when I've used to much detailer spray in the past and it smeared a little.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll be washing it on Saturday and I'll let you guys know how it goes.

No I did not use QD after. I tried some a little while ago to try and get some of it off and it may have worked somewhat, but I didn't want to rub the dust particles any more. It got pretty dusty today.

Also-I believe the marks on the hood are gone. I'll know for sure later. I'm going to a Legend meet here in WA.
