I just got done with my first detail on my 2001 Ranger. Steps were

Wash
Clay
SSR2 on very bad water spots on hood and roof
SSR1
4 Coats Zaino Z2 with ZFX
Z6 Gloss enhancer between coats
Wheel Wax and Meg’s Endurance High Gloss

It looks good, but I don’t think it has the head turning pop that most of the cars I see posted have. Is there anything else I can do to get that look or is a Ford Ranger just not going to look that good?

You got mirror - keep in mind color plays a lot as well since it's blue (it is blue right) it will not reflect as well as say a black will it looks poppy to me!

(P.S. - I think Ford must put the worst paint on the ranger, my roomate has a black one I experiment on and at it's best it does not pop like a black infiniti or even a black f-150!)

Looks good to me . Like Groebuck said . some colors just don't reflect like others. Nice job :bigups

A man suffering from a mental disorder went to see his psychiatrist, wearing only saran wrap. when his psychiatrist saw him she said "i can clearly see your nuts"

the reason for me saying this is, i can really see that your nuts too... or blind. thats really head turning, and if your asking about the reflective thing, its all about color. black will reflect more than blue. its like trying to compare a asian with a latino.... two different things that are hard to compare. very sweet and zesty job!

Thanks for all the positive feedback. I guess it does look pretty good. My next car will have to be black so I can see if I can turn it into a mirror.

First off, let me say I think your detail job looks fantastic. I also have a ford ranger (2003 white) and I find that a super-dooper show-stopping shine is difficult to obtain. Perhaps it's due to my limited cababilities as I'm new at this. But lately I'm starting to think it's the paint, just like the other poster said. My neighbor has an Explorer a few years older and it always seems to look better than my truck in terms of shine & gloss. Of course, it could be a mean "grass is greener..." syndrome mixed with some sick perfectionism. So, I feel your pain, but your truck looks great.

I don't have any pictures yet. This is my first post.
So far my regiment is, Meguires shampoo, Mothers clay (sometimes), 3M hand glaze, 3M liquid wax. But I'm going to start throwing in P21S polish and blitz wax. Some day I might change to Klasse. There are so many options, and I want to try them all. I'm crazy. Especally being it's only a ranger.

Cheers.
