Top of the Line Detail

Hey guys,

I had an opportunity to detail this 1998 Jaguar XJR a couple months ago try the new Top of the Line (TOL) and Hi-Temp Products I bought from Top of the Line You will see on this page the Jag I did along with a 2004 Range Rover at the bottom.

I have hyperlinked all these products for you to read about.

For the paint, you can see there were a bit of swirls into it (and that's an understatment). After claying with Adam's Polishes Clay bar, I started with Hi-Temps Light Cut with a Green Edge pad on pc setting 5.5. It worked in very well with minimal dusting and absolutely no marring.

From there I still had some swirls remaining, so I then used Paint Perfection Glaze with a blue Edge Pad with PC setting on 4. I had absolutely no swirls remaining!! This product has the above Light Cut as a base and then they tweak it and add a polymer sealant!! This stuff really does polish and leaves a lasting protection!! It's like none other All In One product I've used in the past.

I wanted to top off this Burnt Orange/Fiery red color with some carnuba, why notTop of the Line's Trade Secret. I had heard so much about this stuff, and the results from Jeff Cullup and Anthony Orosco are amazing!! This paste wax is like buttery silk, not like P21S or others. It goes on super easy and is a wipe on, wipe off type product, except you can do larger areas than with P21S.

To clean the wheels, I usedTOL's Power Wheel Wash. I have been using this stuff on every detail since, and absolutely love it. It is an all wheel cleaner that is stronger than Eagle One's A2Z or Meg's Hot Rims. It is inexpensive also, along with many of these items. At $15 a gallon, it dilutes 1:1 and works so well.

The tires got Grape Tire Dressing. This stuff is not greasy and for a gel-type, it dries very easily. It has cleaners into it also, and the claim is that the results are permanent and less and less needs to be applied over time.

I am very impressed with all the products from Top of the Line and Hi-Temp that I have used. They are inexpensive and are easy to work with. The shipping and customer service at TOL was top notch, and I received my products in just a couple of days.

I'd be glad to answer any questions you might have, and would definitely like others who have tried the prodcuts to chime in.

P.S. I am not paid to do reviews like this by any means. I purchased these products at the same prices you see on their website. I truely believe these products to be superior to average

Nice, thanks for the review on top of the line's products. Not much is said about TOL's products, especially the paint perfection. The tire dressing looks good and sounds interesting.

beutiful job nick :) and that is a great color. I ahve a question about the edge pads? How well do megs pads rank with the edge pads for the PC? I use megs pads as of now, i noticed you used 2 differend level polishing pads green and bl;ue and megs only offers cut, polish and fiish pads so should i use the yellow for the light cut and then lower the speed with a nice clean yellow for the PPG???

Great job Nick. The Grape Tire Dressing sounds like it'll go on my Christmas List.

does it smell like grapes? :) - good job Nick - really nice reflection of the white stripe (on the ground) in the paint!

Thanks for the kind words guys!! :bigups

Not much has been said in the past, although Anthony really started a rave here. They are definitely top shelf item in my garage. I have like 6 tire products with me now. I'm going to start running through them quickly and pick up a gallon of this stuff. However, I like the different looks of tire products, so if I kept 2-3 around, I would be happy with that.

5.0--

I absolutely love the Edge pads. I'm not going back to the Meg's ones now. Here are the reasons: 1) the foam is and feels of better quality 2) there are definitely more options with textures and stuff 3) the new DA 2000 allow you to have a quick connect 4) They are less expensive 5) the new foam really blows Meg's away 6) no more velcro to worry about!!

Your regimen is correct; that is what I have also done in the past before I got the New DA 2000's. I still have Brand New Meg's pads here in the garage. It's always good to have back ups when your dealing with velcro from what I have learned in the past :nono But seriously, the quick connect is definitely the way to go. I think you pay $18 for a double sided pad, where as you pay $11-12 per Meg's pad.

Rabbi and Groebuck--

The stuff really does smell like Grapes!! It is not nearly as thick as Meg's Endurance, and by being so, it applies much easier. Definitely a good addition to the arsonel. As for freebies....we'll see on my next order :) I'm glad they decided to use my pics on their site, as it gives me something for my customers to go see from a non-biased profile. Hehe, I never really noticed the stripe from the rocks in the driveway, that did turn out pretty well.

To expand on Trade Secret, I really like P21S/S100 to start. However, TS definitely has that extra 10% wetness and depth over them. It's an essence to apply it, and really spreads a lot better than them. Just wanted to add that in.

Hey Nick....

Nice review. I use products from TOL pretty regularly. The Wheel Wash is a truly awesome product and it's hard to believe it's not an acid. I keep 2 formulas, 1 full strength and 1 diluted. I have not used Trade Secret yet but I'm sure I'll try it at some point.

Thanks again for the review and pics....

Ringo

Nice review Nick. Nick, I have a question about applying and removing the Trade Secret Carnauba. Did you apply to the entire vechicle and let the product dry before removing? How do you think it will look on a black car?

Thanks!
