OCDetails.com is coming along...

I would appreciate feedback at this early stage of development. I've got a more customized site that I am building in Dreamweaver, but the templates offered by 1and1 makes it too easy not to set something up. Its obviously not finished, but its coming right along. What do you think so far?

What a sweet start, and surprisingly, OCDETAILS hasn't been taken yet. It's such a catchy name with all the hype on Orange County and such. That's a great one you got going thus far!! :bigups

Originally I wanted it to be ocdetailing, but that was taken. I could have taken a .net or .org site, but it wouldn't have been the same. Logos and such are easier to make with a shorter title anyway. ;)

Some of the pages have 'filler' content. I do intend on listing out more information on what is included in different detail packages soon. I actually have to sit down and figure out what I can reasonably estimate for cost on the services. For now I'll leave it at a visual inspection quotes only kind of deal. I've been screwed too many times in the past when quoting without seeing the car....

very nice. maybe not the best idea, but how about some music!!!! just a random thought from a teenager... however, very zesty site!

I thought about that. I had music on my last homepage that I built and it kind of got old. It is super slow for anyone on dialup too. I figured with the number of pictures that I was going to upload, the site is going to go slow enough as it is.

Looks good but IMO it has too many long paragraphs. Most people are lazy and will not take the time to read all those words.

However, your pics are awesome! Nothing speaks the truth louder than pictures. I especially love how you brought that red truck back to life. What did you use on that by the way - did you use a rotary or a PC - what products?

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I put a guestbook in there too. I missed that one. I've been playing around with it today, so if it changes everytime you click it, then that would be why. lol

That truck was done with a PC and AIO and that's it. AIO is a killer on oxidation.

Detailing isn't for the lazy. If someone wants to learn then they are going to have to take the time to do it. I know the paragraphs are long, but you should read Victor Hugo sometime. lol His paragraphs were like 3 pages long. I'm not a literary genius or anything, but I think that mostly that is the way it has to be written. Sorry about that. It will be more organized in my eBook.

on the detailing article, you list the order as:

interior
exterior
engine

but then in the next paragraph you say interior, engine, exterior. Might want to change it so they match. Id do engine before exterior myself.

I'm the only phone number because I am the only contact number right now. I don't have a shop that people can just drop by. I'm mostly mobile, so you need to call to make an appointment to either meet me at my home or somewhere else. If someone calls from an area that I don't service or can't get to, then I refer them to a detailer closer to them.

I'll have to fix that order. I do the engine before the exterior too. As long as degreaser and stuff is going to overspray anyway, its a good idea to do that before you get too involved in the engine. I wrote it right the second time, but I just put the first list out of order compared to how I described it. Thanks for pointing that out. :bigups

Since you are slinging for biz ...is this spamming??????

Since when am I slinging for biz? Answering a question isn't spamming. I am asking for opinions on my site, not for appointments. I do this in my spare time and not for a living. I highly doubt that posting it on DC is going to bring in any clients. I'm not selling products on that site that you can order anyway. Its just information at this point. However, if you feel that it is SPAM then you should report it as such and see if it gets shut down. I think you might want to lighten up a little bit first. If this was spam then it would have been shut down a long long time ago.
