How often do you clean applicator pad's when doing a job??

For instance do you use 1 pad to do the whole vehicle?
Or say, 1 pad for the hood, top, and trunk, and then a pad for the side's?
Also what do you use to clean your pad's?
I plan on polishing, glazing, then waxing my 87 caddy, how many pad's do think i will need?
I figure 2 pad's per process,or can i get away with 2 pad's total, just clean them up before the next process.
Thank's for your time
Dan
P.S.
I plan on using foam applicator's on an orbital to apply each process, then buffing off with MF towels
would this be correct?
Thanks again

Welcome fellow Michiganadnder.

I would use a polishing pad to do all of the polishing, a lighter pad for glaze and wax by hand. I wash my pads whenever I switch chemicals. If I am goign to use the same pad for two different cuts of polish I wash it. Might not need to but it won't hurt at all. 2 pads per process seems excessive to me.

Sounds right to me Dan.

Since I do only my own vehicles that are not in very bad shape to start with, one pad per process is plenty. In fact, I think I could do several vehicles with the same pad without any problems.
If you are loading a pad with so much product that you need to change pads, you are probably using too much product.

I do use a different pad for each product. If I were polishing, glazing, and waxing as you have said you are going to do, I would use three different pads.

What products are you planning to use for each step?
A polish will benefit from the use of a machine, but a wax doesn't
need to be machine applied. I don't use any glazes, but wouldn't think a machine would be a lot of help there, either. What I would do would depend on what the instructions suggest.

Charles,My plan was to apply the polish,(probably Meg's,or something else I can pick up at Murray's,Pep Boy's or Auto Zone),glaze (Meg's #7)
and then NXT,all with the orbital.
Thanks for the post also, fellow Michiganian,2001 Civic
