Water spots or hard water stains are nothing more than calcium or magnesium salts. Acids and chelators in rinse water (Jet Dry) work well but as mentioned you must be very careful with acids as they will etch glass. When you buy glass etching kits at a hobby store look at the etching compound- acid! Vinegar (aka acetic acid) is less likely to hurt glass and you as it's a weak acid. I dilute some vinegar in water and then l apply liberally with soaked terry towel and wipe slowly giving it a chance to dissolve the hard water stains. I finish with MF towel. My next step would be the diluted CLR spray (which is an acid FYI) but I have never needed to go there. Abrasives would work but are way too much work when you can wipe-on, wipe-off. Stay clear of anything strong enough to burn your hands- totally unnecessary and likely to etch your windows, driveway, and clearcoat!
