Ink on interior vinyl

rtbrick

Hoping for a sunny day
One of my kids must have had ink on his hands when I picked him up after school and now I have that ink on the interior vinyl door grab on the passenger side. I tried Megs APC+ 1:4 and it did not do much. Does anyone have a recommendations for ink removal on vinyl? The vinyl is slightly textured. :(

Hey RB,

What did you use to work the APC?? Did you use a towel, Microfiber, brush?

Not sure what kind of ink it is but I had a kid car last week, where one of the kids used the center armrest as his drawing board. The armrest was slightly textured and the kid used a black ink pen and scribbled over the entire thing.

I used steel wool (the mild grade) with 4 Star White Lightening to remove the ink stains. I use steel wool on all the textured surfaces to clean without damage to the texture and it usually works.

Good luck and let us know what happens...

rtbrick,
Try Goof off, buy at home depot, . Test in small area for colorfastness (is that a word). works awesome on ink!

Ringo,
I use the scotts white brillo pad for cleaning textured vinyl or plastic. I used to use steel wool but it doesn't last long. The white brillo's are not as abrasive as the green ones. You can find them at your local grocery.

I know this might sound cheesy, but I have worked wonders with 409. It works great on vinyl steering wheels and gear shifts.

Hairspray works great on getting ink out of carpet too. Buy the cheapest stuff - like aquanet.
