Weight training?

im starting again this summer. i just took a 1 month break and its going to be tuff getting back into the routine.

I used to train all year round, 7 days a week, while working for a limo detailing company a couple years ago. I would finish the cars and either use my lunch break at the gym next door or eat luch and wait until after quiting time. Mostly fast paced running, tons of situps and push ups. On lifting days I would follow a routine from Mens Health that I liked. After about a year of that I lost almost 65 pounds!

Now I am 150 and have since given up the routines I had then. Instead i like to excercise outside the gym. Mainly walking, rollerblading and alot of crunches. I have also started golfing. I hear that a round burns over 1000 calories! Figure a complete morning and afternoon of detailing, rollerblading a few or more miles in the evening and golfing on the weekends and maintaining weight is not a problem no matter what I might eat. Slowly but surely I am visiting the gym again just, not as frequently as I once needed.

ahahahaha, i gotta be sure to tell my dad that one. hey gorebuck, maybe i have your pic?

ok...I did a little research on the golfing thing and its true, if you golf 18 holes and you are walking with your bag on your back, you will burn a little over 1200 cal. but if you are walking and you have a caddie you will burn around 300 cal.

yea, thats what i thought my dad has a HUGEEEEE beer belly..... he looks almost pregnant. ill tell him next time to walk the course. my dad will spot me, but he refuses to lift with me. he tried to do some crunches one day, and for the next 3 days, his stomach hurt so much, it convinced him not to try any more crunches....... as for me, abs are everything... i tired to do different variations of crunches. i can do hundreds of regular crucnhes, so now i do more advanced leg lifts, and some incline cruches/sit ups... lotsa fun

lol good job clean dean. I hope the order or clean dean didnt go in the order it was presented .....

zesty, if you want any more info on weight training, i'd suggest going to www.bodybuilding.com. They have a lot of good articles about how and when to do so. Word of advice when you talk to people about this stuff, do what works for YOU. There are guys that look great, but they lift in very dangerous ways that can put you out of commission very quickly.

honestly, thats you clean dean? youre friggin buff.............. whats your max squat/bench? btw, on that last pic... theres children here!!!!!

flipizin, i check bodybuilding.com pretty frequently :)

I used to workout all the time until nice weather kicks in then I slack. I have been running three days a week though. In the Winter I workout in my basement and hit my bunching bags a few times a week.

hey clean dean, just got a question for you. do you take any supplements? currently im taking 100% whey protein rite after i finish working out. im not sure, but i may wanna add some creatine to my diet. also, i try to take some multi vitamins in the morning.

zesty-man

I eat about 12 egg whites a day and I still take whey protein at night. I take off my diet completely on my days off, and I have not competed since 2000. I still train about 6 days a week. Between work, detailing, and family sometimes the workouts are only 20 minutes.

I did take creatine while I was competing, but you must drink a lot of water while taking suppliments like creatine.

if you want to get big ya gotta eat big..lots of clean food + hard work in the gym and adequete rest=muscle ..you gotta put on some fat to get some muscle ..dont worry it will come off ..creatine +glutamine , andro if you want .. about 4 mos of mass gaining then trim down &you should see some good gains .. compound movements are the best.. if you dont feel like puking after a leg workout then you didnt work hard enough .. ive never seen anyone make real gains while losing weight at the same time .. look at the pros they are fat slobs in the offseason .they are eating plenty to support theyre energy needs .. when you weigh more you can lift more ..more weight = bigger muscles .. look at the guys in the worlds strongest mans contest on tv. these men are massive .. they are not worried about calories .. they lift big weights and thats where they get that size ...talk to any big boys at the gym they will tell you they built a solid foundation from compound movements ,squats, eadlifts , bench, rows, ect

hmmmm, yea, ive heard that eating egg whites is supposed to be good, but it sounds really nasty. can i eat the egg whites with ketchup or soemthing, or does it defeat the whole purpose? my mom doesnt want me taking creatine for some reason.. when did you start working out? i just started last year, around this time, and ive made some significant gains, but im still not satisified. by bench went from like 60 lbs to 115 lbs in one year, which is probably really bad, but i look at it as a gain. my quad extensinos also increased from about 65 lbs to 128.5, which turned out to be really good for tennis. this year, my friend is coming back from school, and i guess hes gonna be my "personal trainer". did you have a personal trainer, or were you your own personal trainer?

as for me bigron, im not looking to get "big" but just toned. im a tennis player, so i dont wanna be 315 lbs. rite now im 5'7 145, and i wanna maybe get to 160. i pretty much wanna be solid all around the body, rather than RIPPED with like triceps that look like tumors.

Do I have to pump you up. :lmfao You saw my massive physique. Don't you want to know how I did it? No exercise :D

With Aloha,
Ranney :)
