Revival Of A Black C280

Nice work. Your pictures inspire me to try my FMJ again. I found FMJ to be more on the bright shiney side, rather than the deep wet side, but your pictures obviously show FMJ to add depth to the paint. My try it over VM. Tried it last time over the glaze that came with the Menzerna kit.

Ben,

Thanks for the compliment:)

I find that Menzerna FMJ actually has a nice warmth to it, much like a carnauba. Just goes to show you how subjective detailing can be :dunno

Lastly, I don't see how well the FMJ will bond to VM since VM has a carnauba wax in it. The FMJ needs to be applied to a non-waxed finish.

Take care,
Anthony

Maaaaan! In my humble opinion this could be your most impressive job that I've seen. A mess turned into a beauty. Very nice Mr. Orosco.

rabbi my man......you're way too kind my friend:)

dafowl, Badmother and optik.......thank you also for the compliments:bigups

M23Accord,

This would of been a $300 job easy, at least $200 for just the exterior. This client though really just wanted me to give him a wash and good interior clean up.

Instead I asked him to leave it with me for several days and this way I could just take my time and practice on it a bit. I had some interior products to test out and I wanted to test some product.pad combos on the exterior.

Take care,
Anthony

Outstanding job as usual !!!

Never heard of Magnum 357, is it similar to Meg's Diamond Cut or Power Cleaner Compound ?

Reason I ask is because I have a similar "project" this week with a 1998 Black S320. The car is a city car and scratched up pretty bad on each panel. The car also has some bad etching, and I am considering wet sanding prior to compounding the entire car. either way, I already know I will spend at least 8-10 hours on the car's exterior. :(

After reading this thread and seeing your pics, I feel more inspired to take on this "project" this week.

Great job as always Anthony !!!

The Magnum is a Hi-Temp product and has been renamed. My bottle still reflects the old name.

You can find it here http://www.topoftheline.com/32ozheavcutp.html

I am not familiar with the other compounds you mentioned so can't really compare them. It cleans or levels the paint not so much with abrasives but through chemical cleaning agents, which are helped by the heat and friction of the rotary and a cutting pad.

I would first machine polish an area and if you believe you can get a better finish by wetsanding (and are compensated extra for it) then try the wetsanding.

I am sure either way with your skill it will come out beautiful. Look forward to the pictures:)

Awesome work, AGAIN! I also tend to spend alot more time on hood/roof/trunk area than anywhere else. People with black cars seem to show the most emotion when they pick up their cars. I had a guy hug me one time...YUK!.

Jeeze you should get to keep it after all that - a high heat leveler - for a second there I thought it was some kind of way out heat gun type machine :)

I wish to thank you all for the kind words and compliments:bigups

I have lots of work this week so I hope to get up lots of pics this week.

Take care all,
Anthony
