I don't see a difference

97 bonneville/98 Z71
After washing my vehicle the other day I decided to follow up with 2 different qd's just to see if there was any difference and experiment. I used eagle ones wet wipe and shine and mothers showtime. I sprayed half of the hood with each product. I used separate microfibers towels to wipe each product off. Is it just me, but I really don't see any gloss enhancing properties from either one of these products. The hood doesn't look any more shiney than the rest of the car. I would think since the eagle one has silicones that it would enhance the gloss a little bit more than the mothers, but I didn't see it. The only thing I noticed from both of these products was that the surface was more slicker after using it. What's the deal?

III,

What color is your vehicle? Some colors are more difficult to "enhance" with a QD.

I remember when I bought Final Inspection and NOT Final Detail, seeing no results at all, its possible that those QD are more of a cleaner. They probably don't have a high carnauba rate or lots of silicones or gloss enhancing products. It might be that your needs more prep. What color is it? ( as Boss_429 said) :cool

The only QD I have ever used that has made any difference for me is 4 Star's Ultimate Gloss Enhancer. That stuff adds a sparkle to the paint beyond what waxes and sealants do. Its the only QD I use. I've used all the QDs off the shelf and some ordered online just to make sure. I gave the ones with carnauba away and used the rest for clay lube. Now I'm down to just my GE and I'm happy with that. If you haven't tried it then you may find yourself in for a treat. I love that stuff.

On my cars, a 1994 dark green accord and a 00 blue civic, Mothers QD and Meg's final detail are the only QD's that I like to use. They seem to deepen the color and add significant gloss. Other QD's that I have used seem to only add gloss and not deepen color.

I have not tried the UGE.

My bonneville is red and my truck is black. Didn't use it on the truck though, just my bonneville.

I have found that if the wax or sealant on my paint is almost gone that the QDs do not do much good.
I also have found that they are more difficult to remove with out streaking at this time as well. I use FI for a clay lube and FD is my product of choice for now. I haven't tried 4* yet though.
Also the products with silicone seem to repel the dirt and rain spots better ... just my opinion here

Part of my experience comes from 5 years in keeping vehicles clean at new car auto shows across the country. To maintain these vehicles, they are wiped off approximately every hour throughout the duration of the show. I'm with ya on the not being able to tell the difference.

Try this after the car is clean, waxed, cool, and in non direct sunlight using your choice in towels: wipe one side of the hood with window cleaner, and the other with FI. Can you see a difference? I can't either. Of course, do this 10 times a day, for 7 days and on about the 5th day you will start to notice that the window cleaned sections are harder to wipe, but the shine factor will not change. Now do the same thing in direct sun -- here the difference in the lubricity becomes a little easier to see. The side with the FI shows less towel scratches than the window cleaner side, however the shine and reflectance seems unchanged even though the window cleaner will have removed some of the wax. Now try this on a vehicle that's sat out for a day or two...

Don't get me wrong, I use FI for wiping down vehicles, and moistening pads, it smells real nice but I honestly don't see the "color enhancers" effect either.

Just my 2 cents :)

Something you might want to try is NXT's new spray wax. Its not a QD in the traditional sense. Its a bonafide spray wax. Not a paste or a liquid one... it's a spray wax. You spray it on and then start buffing it off. It doesn't just wipe off like a QD. You wipe it down and then buff out the haze. Just like you were applying a normal wax. I gave it a shot on my hard rocking camaro and noticed an immediate difference. I don't have NXT on the car or anything like that, but it sure did improve the look overall. I can't really say much about durability yet or anything, but the ladies seem to be liking it anyway. :naughty Anything that makes you smooth with the ladies can't be all bad.

to be "smooth with the ladies" I break out my bottle of baby oil and my twitser bed sheets...

:hah :rolling :rolling :lmfao

beer and wine is just fine--but liquor's quicker!

Showtime is decent. Odd that you did not see a difference. Poor lighting maybe? The one QD that I see the most out of is 4 Star Ultimate Gloss Enhancer. Nice glossy shine. Einman Fabrik has worked well for me, too. Personally, I don't see much of anything out of Meg's FI (good for cleaning, not shining) and I'm simply not crazy about FD.

I stand by my recomendation for Four Star's Gloss Enhancer, but I had the same experience Fuzz had with NXT. that stuff is crazy nice. I used it on a truck last week that had NXT on it. It was a definite improvement.

I use QD all the time, in my case its E.O. Wipe n Shine and for me it adds a lot of shine, dept, and slickness.
