I went on a job today to do a black Expedition. I was actually kind of bent because the owner didn't want me to do what needed to be done. That truck needed to be clayed and polished and he just wanted it waxed. So I spent a little extra time on the interior since I had budgeted out 3 hours to spend on the beast anyway.
I was just about done with the interior when he came out and asked me when I needed to move it into the garage so I could wax it. It was a good time then so I he said he had a car in there that he would pull out so I had more room. He opens the garage and what should be in there...? A yellow 1994 Viper. :drool I can't tell you how much of a Viper fan I am. It is one of my dream cars. I know there are faster or nicer, but I have just always been a fan of the Viper. My father in law and I are building a 427 Cobra replica and the Viper was based on that car to begin with. It would be my dream someday to have a matching Viper for our Cobra.
Anyway, I told him that I could do amazing things with that car. He was so impressed with the Expedition he asked me to come back on Thursday and do the Viper. It just goes to show you that you never get what you don't ask for. I knew I was kind of losing out by spending so much time on this truck when I wasn't really going to make that much money. I was trying to figure out what the silver lining to this cloud was when he opened that garage. I broke out the salesman and sold him a $120 detail on the Viper. Some days are just so good..... This is going to turn out to be a very good week for a part time detailing bandit like me. Two $80 jobs, a $45, and the Viper. Time to hit eBay and go shopping.
So now I just need to decide what to use on it.... I think I'm just going to bust out the Wolfgang again because it has been doing so well up to now. I'm super impressed with it and I'm sure its going to look fantastic on this Viper.
The best part about this car is that it has a little oxidation on it and its just not in very good shape as far as I'm concerned. This paint is going to look so much better that I think the guy is going to need a moment of private time after he sees it. I can't wait. This will be the nicest car I've done for a very long time. There aren't many cars like that up here that I get a chance to do. I did a Ferarri a couple years ago but its just been Bimmers and Mercedes ever since. I haven't scored a real exotic like this for a very long time. I can't wait and I'll definitely post pictures. :bigups
