1998 Audi Avant

Clean Dean

Keep it clean !!!
I detailed this 1998 Audi Avant yesterday, and she was a real project both inside and out. The leather was real dingy and showing wear...

After...

Lexol 50% diluted and a considerable amount of work. The leather came back quite a bit.

I also conditioned with Lexol.

Paint...

The paint was scratched and swirled everywhere. I went to work on her with Menzerna IP, however I switched over to Meguiars Speed Glaze almost immediately. I will not talk down another product, but I should stick with what works for me.

Meguiars...

I followed SG with No. 9. I used a green Edge Pad for the SG and Blue with the No.9. The sunlight is a little more filtered in this shot, and I apologize for Mother Nature's lack of cooperation on this thread.

Here is another angle...

Working outside has its drawbacks... I would love to take B&A's in consistent lighting, but this detail took me about 4 hours to compete in 88 degree weather, and the sun has moved.

Interior...

The entire interior was atrocious, however my pics do not do it justice...

Here is one after shot.

Dean,

Always a great job, I love working on darker colors you can make a big impact on what they look like.

WOW!! I hope I get to the point where I can do work that good. Till then I better keep my day job and stick to my own vehicles.

Really Impressive!

Your work is always impressive and outstanding Clean Dean!! :) How do you get that engine to look like that? What steps did you take and what procedures? That's what I want to learn to do next. Man if I could get an engine to look like that I'd be thrilled!!

Keeotee...

One of my favorite threads compliments of the one and only Anthony Orosco.

EBPcivicsi: AM's Super Dress-It.

Speed Glaze... I do not know anything about fillers, but that is definitely a good question for Mike Philips at Showcar Garage. I do know that it is rich in polishing oils and has very good cutting abilities. I have effectively removed swirls and light scratches quite quickly with this product. I do recommend a final pass with # 9 SMR or # 80 Swirl free polish with a polishing/finishing pad to remore any light buffer swirls that may be left behind by this product.

As far as other compounds and polishes, I believe that I should stick with Meguires for the mere fact that I am very comfortable in their usage and abilities.

Most commonly used Meguires products...
DACP
Speed Glaze
Swirl Free Polish
Swirl Mark Remover

In defense of Menzerna, I really like their Final Polish.

Anthony A's thread.
