how to wash microfiber towels?

I wash mine in hot water using a liquid detergent. I also run them through the rinse cyle twice. I hand them and let them air dry.

BTW, only wash microfibers together and keep them away from towels.
 
don't use DAWN!! it will ruin your washing machine - I use ALL Free - it's cheap and free of dye ans perfumes.
 
What I found works best for me is to soak the towels in a bucket of water and Dawn. Then I wring them out and put them in the washing machine with All Free ( cause I don't want them smelling all girly)
Run a complete cycle and then do an extra rinse. Throw into dryer at medium heat ... fold and they are ready to use.
The Dawn in the bucket breaks down the oils and waxes in the towels and then you don't get any residue in the washing machine. This process helps keep the peace at home.
 
I wash my towels using hot water and woolite. I run the towels thru two wash cycles, because I wash at a Laundromat, but otherwise would do a double rinse cycle.

I've heard conflicting advice about using Hot water or warm water. Something about the MF fibers degrading at high temps??? Looks like everyone here like HOT...

It probably does, but when I washed my towels without presoaking in Dawn it left a residue in the washer. I actually presoaked them before in Cheer or something like that. I figure if Dawn is supposed to remove wax from a car, it should break it down and remove it from my towels. All I know is that this way works very well for me and I don't have to wash out the washing machine when I am done. Oh, and yes I have a water softener so hard water isn't an issue for the scummy residue.
 
I wash in hot water with Murphy's Oil Soap. It seems to break down the chemicals more. I tried this in a bucket with MOS in one and Dawn in the other. MOS water turned a glorious Grey! the dawn had not broken 1/2 as much chemical. Machine wash with MOS and air dry.
 
I soak my MF in warm water with Murphy's and then run them in the washing machine with the extra rinse cycle on. Then dry in the dryer on delicate, no fabric softeners.

For best results, always wash the micro fiber towels and/or mitts separate from other non-micro fiber fabrics especially cotton. They will attract lint in the wash water which can leave lint residues when next used. Machine wash or hand wash with any mild liquid detergent in warm water (=<90°). The towel and/or mitt can be machine dry at air temperature or tumble-dry low or just line dry for best results.

Important: DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENER OR BLEACH, AND DO NOT IRON. The reason is that the micro fiber towel and/or mitt will treat the fabric softener as if it was dirt. It will try to store the tiny particles of the softener in the fibers of the towel and/or mitt. This will clog up the micro fibers and render the towel and/or mitt ineffective.
 
I've heard that a half cup of distilled white vinegar in the rinse removes all residue. As to wax removal - I use ERA or Tide liquid in hot water and the towels come out very clean and do not appear to be degrading. I use a warm dryer - cold would take hours to dry.
