Will all my bases be covered after this order....is there anything else I should think about? Would anybody replace anything on my next order with another product?

Not enough STUFF! :( Those little pvc sponges Poorboys sells are superb for applying sealants thin, thin, thin. Get the Megs 5" backing pad and use the Megs pads for starting out. I think flat pads are easier to deal with when you're starting out. Also, don't forget to get the soft pad to apply sealants with the PC. It is a quantum leap forward in getting that sealant on super-thin and down into every pore of the paint. I used one with UPP today and it killed hand-application in terms of streaking and evenness.

If you can wait to get the SSR2.5........... I would. From everything I've heard, it does everthing DACP does............. but a lot easier!

As for the clay, they are all pretty good. I just used the new Meguiar's Quick Clay today, and even that seemed pretty decent.

I agree with ACE.......... the 5" backing plate, and the Meguiar's pads would be a fine start!

so get the 5" backing plate and 6" pads?

The whole backing plate situation is going to be temporary, as i plan on stocking up on the new edge pads that dont require a backing plate as soon as they come out.

I planned on applying sealants by hand even after i got my PC, but if PC helps with that too, why not use it for sealants too.

Yep.......... the 5" backing plate, and the Meguiar's 6 1/2" pads.

Some people are getting fine results both applying, and removing sealants with the PC.

I have used claymagic and like it very much. However FourStar won my heart over after i detailed a 330ci...its fantastic, soft and very high quality. FourStar claylube is the best route IMO also!

:D

I just ordered the megs kit off PAC - I think my PC has a 6" and never had an issue:) - on the 4 Star Leather Cleaner and Conditioner twins - they are AWESOME!

Adam's Claybar.....Awesome stuff (as you PM me about it) ;)

Poorboy's SSR2.5, and ditch the SSR2---Trust me, it's getting better and better everytime I use it over DACP!

....and the rest of my PM :lolol

So I should go with SSR2.5 instead of DACP, and ditch the SSR2?

So on a severly swirled vehicle I would do SSR2.5 with an appropriate pad, then to SSR1, then to AIO or WG Prewax polish enhancer, Vanilla Moose (or whatever polish I feel like using/would be appropriate).

I just got the 7424 and and the 5' backing plate/red, yellow and beige pad kit from PAC. It was the Meg's kit.

I've got PB's SSR1, SSR2 but haven't had a chance to use them yet really. I've used PB's TR and love it. I really like the WG's too. Of course PB's S&W by all means. I haven't had a chance yet to use 4*'s leather cleaner and conditioner, but I have them.

2dr, I would go from your initial polish 2.5 to your final polish WGPE, then SSR1 (essentially a glaze step without oils and fillers) then a sealant. No experience with the Moose on my part, but I guess you could substitute that in for SSR1 from what I hear.

nick...ill have to experiment with the WGPE --> SSR1 and vise versa.

My main concern though is whether or not I should exclude SSR2 from my order.

I guess ill go with SR2.5 over DACP seeing as it does the same thing, only easier.

My 2 cents -

I would definitely go with SSR2.5 rather than DACP. The only question is whether or not SSR2.5 will be available in a timeframe which suits your needs. I would not consider it to be a replacement for SSR2. SSR2 will handle less severe surface marring than SSR2.5, and the general adage is to always go with a less abrasive product when possible. I intend to keep both products in my aresenal.

It's possible to go from SSR2.5 straight to Vanilla Moose. I've tried this, and it's fine as long as you work the SSR2.5 until it's completely broken down. SSR2.5 is much easier to breakdown than DACP, and it does not leave behind as much surface marring.

Regarding the PC backing plate and pad combo, I'm going to go against the grain and recommend a 6" backing plate and 7.5" pads ("Advanced" Lake Country pads, now available through PAC).

Hmm....i guess it wouldnt hurt to have SSR2 in my lineup until SSR2.5 comes out. But im definatly going with the 2.5 over DACP.

As for the 5" vs 6" backing plate issue....well have to see.

And btw...I was over at autopia and saw they have a flexible backing plate, does PAC have a flexible one?
Thanks for the input guys, and if anybody else wants to add theirs, please do.

Don't get hung up on the backing plate thing. You're straining at gnats. The Megs 5" and Megs pads are fully capable of doing anything you want done when you're just starting out. The yellow pad is great when you want to apply 1-steps like AIO with just a bit of extra bite. Also, don't sweat the SWR too much SSR2 is fine. Don't get crazy with agressive products at the beginning. What's an "agressive product"? IMO, it's anything that makes the finish duller and has to be brought back up with a final polish like PB Pro. SSR1 is not aggressive and makes the finish glossier. I'm not real sure about SSR2. Megs 9 and 3M SWR both bring the finish up not down. IMO - you should see if these products work before you start removing paint.

:yeah
I use the meg's system and it does a good job.
Also I would even recomend SSR 2 over DACP.
If you use SSR 2 with the Meg's red pad it will remove more imperfections than DACP and also leave your finish extremely shiny ... Most people use it with a Meg's Yellow pad but for whatever reason I like the red one better.
The SSR Products do not get gummy like the meguiars either ... A big plus!

Get rid of the Engine Kote, its a product that is not worth the hassle. If you truly want some, I have about a half gallon here that I will send to you. Natty originally sent this to me, so I could make up my mind, and I join him in not liking the stuff. I would be more than happy to do the same for you.

Ace and KimWallace...thanks for that bit of info. I didnt plan on using the SSR2.5 very often, just in situations where SSR2 wouldnt suffice.

Tassadar....I would love to buy the remaining Engine Kote off of you. Let me know how much you want for it and my friend (who has a paypal account) can send you the money. I would take your word for it and disregard the engine kote as a bad product, but i have talked to too many people that like it. Plus I want to put a coat in my own wheel wells haha.
